Oh well. If that's the pick, that's the pick. I will support the kid (in spite of the stiff legs) as I've supported all the Knicks draft picks in recent years. Heck, I even defended Channing Frye.

I wish him, and the Knicks well.

Walsh sees DG as a PF! The guy is 6-10, 226, still growing and he's only 19. His skill level and mobility will give him an edge in an uptempo style. As for defense, he may not be the strongest guy, but they say he's no pushover. Apparently he's got a tough demeanor and won't just back down. I hope that is true. He can't be any worse than Zach!!! We just have to see if he can improve his rebounding.

everyone agreed that this team lacked a perimeter shooter all last season at the wing position... now that Walsh just drafted one all of a sudden it's no longer a need for us... i don't get that at all.

His shooting/mechanics are definitely impressive but they're an advantage only if he can guard 4s. If he's guarding on the perimiter you're accepting that you'll have to zone it up every night.

bottomline i think everyone pretty much knew there were alotta holes that needed to be filled on this team... getting a guy who can shoot the J & bring a little passing, ballhandling & shotcreating ability from the wing position is a good thing in my view... let's say he grows into a capable point forward for us, that opens up a lot of options for Mike D to run different offensive sets.

i agree that having him guarding speedier smaller G's is not really an option for us, but if u have someone like Balkman let's say playing at the SF u can afford to have DG at the 2 in some rotations & have him guard the slower SF's while Balk checks the 2.

I don't think thats a viable option. If Danilo is guarding either the 2 or the 3 (regardless of who Balkman is guarding), thats a strategy I'm not on board for. He can't guard the average small forward, leave apart the great ones. This isn't to say he'll be a bad pick but rather that he'll be a better pick in the power forward context.

I am intrigued by his offensive potential and I think the Kukoc comparison is decent.

all the more reason to buy a pick now & draft a shotblocker.

A shot blocker doesn't cover for him. He has to guard the 4 spot, even if we manage to get the next Mutombo.

Did the Knicks have a second round pick? Who'd they take?

No, it was traded last year so Isiah could throw the 2007 2nd rounder away.

I don't get the anger with this pick.

First off, we really don't know what kind of player DG is - good or bad.

Secondly, if we took Eric Gordon, many of the people that are screaming bloody murder about us picking DG, would be screaming that we picked Eric Gordon, just because he fit D'Antoni's system. So we passed on the "system" guy and we picked a guy that we can rebuild with, but that's no good either?

Who exactly were we supposed to pick? I would have loved Westbrook, but he was already gone so we went with DG. I'm not really that excited nor that mad. It was an ok pick.

If it doesn't take him as long as MD Jr, then yes.

Yeah exactly.

I'm actually starting to get pumped about DG. I'm looking real forward to seeing him in some summerleague games.

Well, I wanted rose, beasley, mayo and next westbrook. I know nothing about DG, but I hope it is good. I can't complain to much, but i guess i am a little upset that mayo and westbrook went so high, cause i thought they might slip a little.

would rather have had mayo, but this kid from what it looks like can play the game. That is a start, plus he is young with upside.... A lot of guys slipped in this draft, I was suprised.

if danilo turns out to be something like dunleavy/hedo/tim thomas, then they didn't blow the pick.

but if bayless or gordon turn out to be absolute studs, then they may have made a mistake. we'll know in a few years.

True, but you got to take into consideration, that he is still very young, so if it takes him 3 years to develope he will still be a really young player!!! So it does take him a little, he will be good, when we are able to do some FA signings.

By that, I mean, I hate for him to finally emerge for another organization after we invested 5 years in him. That would blow.

Yeah well... you know with the Knicks organization, you actually got to expect some outcome like that!!!
Still I think he might be an all right pick up!
Of course not the most sexy of picks but ... hey!!!
