what if he just becomes a good NBA player?

i'll be happy w/that... he don't need to be a superstar for me to be satisfied w/the pick, as long as he fits into the style of play, fills an important role & promotes good team chemistry on this squad... i don't want anymore primadonna me-first players.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

what if he just becomes a good NBA player? You know, weird thing.. thats what most teams use their draft picks for. Everytime the Knicks draft someone its like he's either Patrick Ewing or he's not.

What is your point? People are just excited after years of below mediocrity play, management, etc.
Let us enjoy the first glimpse of something really special in many years. I'm not saying that from
just last nights game, but rather from the overseas reports and what not.
Yeah, he may just turn out average, but we haven't had a lottery pick in a while so we are going to run with it.

Understandable, and I'm not pointing to you, but there are so many "joy-kills" around here. Perhaps it is well
founded from our past ineptitude during drafts, management, play, etc. In all fairness there are many sides
to a story, but many here, including me, think this kid may turn out to be something very special. And it's nice
to say that when it's not just based on inherent athleticism for a change. We finally drafted a smart player
who can actually play the game.

The time leading up to the draft and that period after is often the most exciting time for fans (especially when
your team sucks as much as ours does).

I just think we, as fans, are trying to enjoy what little we have (or may have)...

imo,

I do believe you missed the point of what fishmike was saying. He wasn't being a killjoy. He was saying that Gallinari doesn't need to be an all-star to be a good pick at #6.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I didn't call him a kill joy, that was more referring to the other posters who were constantly talking about other players we passed on. With all of the negative posts lately, and this just being print it's hard to really know what people are saying. His comment could have been taken in a variety of ways. In a sense my message was to them. No offense FishMike.

But, many of us hope for more than just being a "good" player considering this was a good draft and we passed on some pretty good players in taking him (not to mention it was the (hopefully) rare lotto selection. (And we have to factor the frustration factor of Isiah giving away some lotto picks, what a F*** up he was there. That still sits in many of us to a point - Almost like we need to make up for it.)
And Gallo is an unknown (here in the US), so a chance was taken in drafting him.
