Hoopshype has them at around 28 mill. If Curry's and Jeffries' options aren't being included in that, but Crawford's is, cant' the Knicks just trade Crawford for a shorter contract, and package someone like nate so they could trade Jeffries for one? Just trading Crawford would put the Knicks at around 35 million discluding the contracts of the younger players.

Jamal doesn't have an option... him & Zach account for $27m right there... if u add in Curry & Jefferies' options you get another $18m... that's only 4 players under contract for over $45m & not even including any extension you sign D Lee & Nate to... there's not a chance in hell we'll be under the cap enough to land any kind of upper tier FA unless we dump either Zach or both Curry & Jefferies.

I agree that whoever wants Artest but wants Zach gone is an idiot. that's why I've never endorsed adding artest to the roster under any circumstance. even if it were just a MLE signing.

I would take Artest for the MLE. It's a much greater risk/reward scenario. On the court Artest is a great 2 way player, he plays the game hard on both ends of the floor and he cares more about winning than he does about his numbers. Randolph is the opposite in every way. Off the court Artest has his issues, but that's more of a byproduct of being crazy, not like Randolph who is just a stupid ******* thug wannabe. Throw in the huge difference between Randolph's huge money contract and the MLE for Artest, which makes Artest vastly more tradeable if need be, and it's not even comparable.
