is the reason. but the pick is telling me that the philosphy of d'alsh is going down a different path than building a team with an ultimate goal of seriously contending.
i think dirk is a great story...and that team did very well. but i also think having a PF like dirk was a one shot deal. i don't think that type of success can be replicated. and we're seeing now that dallas is not relevant anymore. they've now been eliminated in consecutive first rounds with dirk as the main guy. i no longer am vested in whether the knicks do well or not, so objectively speaking, if you're a knicks fan, this pick does nothing to make me say "ok, we're now headed to the big time" b/c it still completely hinges on the 2010 summer.
