Right now there are about 9 teams within 4 games of us. We could end up with the 9th pick. If you tell me we were guaranteed a top 3 pick if we tank, I'm all for salary dumps. I'm all for having a back up plan. This draft is fairly deep. If you can get an extra pick in this draft, go for it. But I can't bring myself to bank on getting a good draft pick. I'd rather let the draft settle and then trade for a top pick than roll the dice on having a chance at one.

I have in the past given more credence to your argument, but at this point i'm tired of trying to just patch this thing up. We need to go with the kids for real this time. For the last 3 years the kids have been the most positive thing about this team. Nate, Lee and Balkman have always shown the kind of heart and hustle that we want from the whole team and I want MORE of those kinds of players. In fact I want to find a guy who can actually inspire these guys to be even better. A talented and high character guy like a Roy, Deron or Paul. Yeah there's no guarantee, but we already know that there really isn't any answer to our problems in the NBA right now. We're not going to trade our way into a title contender.

Right now we've got 2 active and adequate SG's in Nate and Jamal, if you put a REAL PG on this team it would make a very big improvement. We have Balkman and Chandler on ice right now, but I think those guys could hold us down at SF if we move Q out of the way. Lee and Zach are good enough at PF, so I say we try to get a C like Thabeet to hold us down in the middle defensively.

Who are you calling stupid? Stop being a condescending prick.

I'm responding to Cosmic's post. I'm painting a broad stroke so-to-speak, although with a lot of truth mixed in the paint but didn't isolate you in the stroke.

Stop being so sensitive.

dude, did ur mommy beat u as a child or something? did u get beat up playing basketball while wearing your Knicks' jersey back in the day? if u want people to stop being sensitive then stop acting like a condescending prick... same goes for a few others on this board who tell people to calm down after they take offense at the moronic comments they throw their way... u speak as tho generalizing people & calling them stupid is better than singling one out... ridiculous... if ur gonna dish the insults then be ready to take em.

Do you really think that getting a guy like Vince this late into the season is going to make a difference? I would prefer getting the 10 and trading for a mid round pick than losing and getting the 7 and not having skill players here.

And we differ on Nate and Jamal. I don't think Nate is an adequate starting SG. I think Jamal is an adequate PG, or a better third guard than a shooting guard.

I will say it - anyone who supports this trade is STUPID.

I would prefer Isiah trade curry to miami straight up for cap relief if thats even possible.

I put that in bold so Trueblue can't say "some posters on here still trust isiah....etc".

Fuck that man....."some posters on here" love the daily drama. Isiah needs to make a trade. "Isiah needs to be fired". Yeah i agree, but it looks like thats not happening cuz lord knows it should have happened at least 7 times this year alone.

Isiah needs to come with another plan....this current group can't stay together. A mix-up is needed. I would prefer cap relief and looking towards the draft, but if Isiah wants to get Vince for Curry? ****in do it right ****ing now!!!!

all I ask from Isiah is if he does trade for Vince.....then he needs to build that front court to match craw and vince. there are more than one way to win.....Vince and Craw could be apart of a even bigger picture. Isiah just has to make it happen.....nobody not even Nixluva and me have that confidence in him.

Naw because we're he only ones cited in the reply.

Meanwhile I was specifically talking to Cosmic. I've made similar statements before with multiple handles quoted in the reply with no backlash.

Don't complain when they are 15-40 again next year with Vince Carter out with another injury.

ok but I also remember what happened when he got to Jersey with him and Kidd putting a just emerging Nenad and NBDL talent on their back for the second half of the season and making the play-offs

I might attribute that more to Kidd, but you're right there's no doubt Carter played a huge role in that.

Personally, I think capspace and draftpicks are more valuable at this point than adding a guy like Carter.

giving up the pick is a DEAL-BREAKER.

draft a floor leader. Carter is willing to be lead. Crawful and co have shown night in and night out they are not.

Kidd quitting on the team after he didn't get a contract extension this summer started a ripple effect.

Another source said there had been preliminary discussions on a three-way trade that would include, among other things, Carter going to the New York Knicks, Eddy Curry to Miami and the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to New Jersey."

Source: The Internets

My intial reaction was...NO NO NO NO NO!

Reasons why:

- I would much rather have the expiring contracts of Williams and Davis. Why is New Jersey in this equation at all? Is Rod Thorn still so hyped up from getting everything but Cuban's ATM card from Dallas for ason Kidd, he decided to call Isiah because..hey! who knows?!.

- Vince Carter is a part time superstar. How motivated is he going to be with a long term contract playing for the worst team in the East's Atlantic division?

(Note: Miami has the worst record but they also have D-Wade and Marion to our...Marbury and Curry?..uhh..our Marbury and Randolph?..our Crawford and Randolph?..uhhh...uhhh)

- Would you not rather spend the money on another free agent? Someone who has the potential to be a TRUE franchise player who brings it every night on both ends of the court.

Facts:

1. Vince Carter:

'08-'09 Season: 15.2 M'
09-'10 Season: 16.3
'10-'11 Season: 17.3
'11-'12 Season: 18 (team option)

2. Eddy Curry:
'08-'09 Season: 9.7 M
'09-'10 Season: 10.5
10-'11 Season: 11.2
'11-'12 Season: 0

'09-10: Player option aka Curry takes this unless the Knicks are so bad, he doesn't want the money. I doubt any other GM gives him 10 mill per unless he learns to rebound and defend and not be fat. Yes, I'm promoting this as a fact.)

2011: Hallelujah praise the lord! Same year Zach comes off. Please let Zeke be gone and for there to be no more Allan Houston/Marbury/Curry type contracts. Please. I'm begging you.

So I guess with Vince Carter our cap situation only gets slightly more FUBAR. Do we even have any room to sign any FAs next season or the season after that?

Free agents:

ESPN's 2008 FA List

Significant restricted free agents:

Josh Smith (love him, except the rumoured 'tude problem)
Josh Childress (i like him)
Emeka Okafor (the anti-Curry)
Luol Deng
Ben Gordon
Monta Ellis
Ryan Gomes
Andre Iguodala
Jose Calderon

Significant unrestricted FAs:

Allen Iverson
Baron Davis
Jermaine O Neal
Elton Brand
Stephon Marbury (he used to belong on this list..funny huh)
Shawn Marion
Gilbert Arenas
Antawn Jamison
Ron Artest

I won't bother going through the 2009 class.

2010: Some guy named Lebron, must be french or something. After Frederic Weiss I don't want any more Frenchies. Also D-Wade. Ray Allen.

3.

2008:

Restricted Free Agents:

So...

Is Carter worth 5 million more next season? 6 million more the season after that? and 5 million the season after that?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

the only trade i would advocate to get Vince would be if we could get rid of Zach in the process... their contracts are pretty much a wash... that would clear up the redundancy of having Eddy & Zach in the same frontcourt, & they can finally let D Lee start games like he should've been doing from the very beginning... that would also open up a few minutes for Morris to get a little burn for once to see if he can actually play at this level.

I like Zach more than Curry. I think something like:

Randolph
Lee
insert SF here
Carter
Jamal

Is real nice.

Tell you what. Isiah staying would be bad enough but this would push me over the edge. I wouldn't take it. Many clueless idiots will run to the Garden to see "Vince Catah dawg" but this is one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Like I said, I'm teetering on the edge. I never thought I'd be in this position but this is just unbearable at this point.

u know i think it's pretty funny that u would rush to someone's defense who's regularly demeaned & insulted just about everyone who's ever had an alternative point of view as him on this forum.

who on this forum has never been beaten at least once as a child by their moms, anyway? if he or anyone else gets their feelings hurt over that one, i'd be more than happy to apologize, but gimme a break.

What an interesting comment. Perhaps you should have a session with Marv to discuss your childhood problems.
