The more I watch this team the more I feel like we should be looking to draft H. Thabeet. This team would look so much different with a shotblocker/rebounder. Get a better SF and add a PG and I think we could be a really tough team.
Our coach begs to differ with your opinion. Some of us made similar statements in the past and got a lot of backlash when we did.
I think the argument was whether shotblocking itself was overrated and certainly it can be. There are teams in this league who stink defensively but get lots of blocks. There was no one who said we didn't need any shotblocking to my recollection, just that if you have good perimeter defenders that's more important than shotblocking. We need it cuz we totally lack any perimeter defense. So in our case we need a shotblocker to cover our weaknesses.
Still this was a good game for the Knicks and we had a chance to win. I was disappointed with Lee. He wasn't really giving a lot of effort on D. he also wasn't really boxing out enough to get rebounds either.
That became the argument after a statement like such was made...."I'd rather have a big in the middle who mans the paint, block some shots, get rebounds, and scores enough to be respected vs Curry". Then someone would say "like who"...the answer would be "Biendrins" and then the response was "He can't score like Curry can and shot blocking isn't needed as much as altering shots or challenging them" and someone would back that statement up with "yeah shotblocking is an overrated stat Curry doesn't block shots, and his rebounding is improving I prefer his scoring".
This season has been plenty of rehashed statements from 2yrs ago.
