If TMS took out his emotions he could modify this a tad. At least he made a list I still need major help.

i tried to be as unbiased as possible while making that list... excuse me for actually addressing the topic of the thread you posted... u couldn't even post ur own list & u're bashing me for allowing my emotions to rule my objectivity... ridiculous.

TrueBlue do you need help getting the pee out of your cornflakes? Your best bet is to just throw them out and try a new bowl. Yeesh.

Isn't this an opinion thread?

apparently it's a bait & switch thread where he asks for people to post their opinions just so he can rag on them

Opinions can be refuted. We do it everyday. I get the drift but it's how discussions are developed. Someone starts a topic, gives and opinion on it, whether asked or not, and someone either agrees or disagrees.

like i said, i don't place much significance in the placement cuz not many players on team has any trade value at all at this point... pretty much u can switch the players after Jamal any way you want, it doesn't mean much when it comes down to it cuz we won't be able to get much for any of them.

i do happen to think Curry has more trade value than you & others seem to think he has, but other than that, we're pretty much in agreement.

It's also kind of a silly exercise b/c today's NBA trade value has more to do with contracts than talent. Also how are you gonn measure value- by what you get in return relative to what you give or what you get in return on an absolute basis.

Who has the most trade value on the Knicks (excluding Lee)? Good question...

Here's my rank:
(1) Nate Robinson - He's a sparkplug on a good contract with some upside. Maybe we could get a scrub a mid-level first rounder. Let the record show I am NOT much of a Nate fan... sad that I have him #1.

(2) Jamal Crawford - any team looking for some scoring punch--especially from the bench--would want him. Maybe we could get an expiring for him.

(3) Fred Jones - He's an older Nate Robinson and I could see a contender wanting him. So, a very late first rounder is probably what could be had for him.

(4) Rose - people discredit him ALL THE TIME, but on a good team he'd be valued. I'm not saying by much because of his contract, but teams STILL pursue Darryl Armstong for his leadership, and that dude is 39. He could probably be swapped for a QRich-type player (overpaid for wahtever reason, but in theory a decent skillset)

(5) Balkman - Maybe a second round pick.

(6) Morris - Maybe an NBDL player.

No one else makes my list. Everyone else sucks donkey balls.

People are going to say "Ahem, Curry and Randolph have value!!!" Stop deluding yourselves. There's a reason the Knicks were the only team that pursued both players in the first place.

I admire you and Vdesai I seriously can't rank them even after seeing your rankings. I think Nate and Jones are way too high but maybe the phone conversations last longer. It's really that bad.

Thanks...

Anyway, the thing here is that there is this myth about all the "talent" Isiah has ammassed. Essentially, the problem here is that they all have obscene contracts, so the talent per dollar is towards the bottom of the league. This may not matter in New York, but it matters in the NBA trade market. No one wants to pay what we are paying for slightly-above-mediocre talent to the JAred Jeffries end of the spectrum.

(Talent) / (contract $) must be taken into consideration. Again, while it doesn't matter in NY, it matters pretty much everywhere else.

And that is why in the end "IT IS OUR MONEY"

I cannot make it anymore clear than this:

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TRADE VALUE. "OUR MONEY" MATTERS TO OTHER TEAMS IN TRADE DISCUSSIONS, which is what this thread is about.

Bip's statement I took to mean "we gave ourselves little to no options when making these moves", so it's literally our money!

Supreme you're right. How does a GM such as ours Pigeon Hole himself move after move?

You are correct. Thanks Blue

My bad . You'll have to forgive me, I started posting at RealGM.

Bip, you're a good poster, but I'm used to dealing with, um, well it's Christmas time so I won't say it.

I know the team has a bad record but guys like Crawford, Curry, and Randolph are tradeable. In fact, for what he makes, Crawford is a very tradeable player. Curry also makes a reasonable salary. Randolph makes more, but he is a more well-rounded player and could be traded. We are not getting 2 1st round picks for any of these guys, but we should be able to trade them for something other than garbage. We need to wait until mid-January when teams start to get ansy or start to give up on the season. Last year Gasol was available for a decent price. I assume this year another allstar level player will become available. If that player can play defense, I am all for it because we need to start getting solid defensive players into our top-5.
Trust the Process

I'm pretty sure Trueblue was looking at this from a rebuilding perspective. not a still trying to remain competitive right now perspective.

I agree that rebuilding is the way to go... but Zach should not be the deal, UNLESS you are getting back a bonafide allstar caliber or a legitimate lottery pick.
So Portland really screwed up with their Zach trade, then, right?

No they didn't... the trade worked for them because they drafted two of the top big men in the lottery in back to back years.. not to mention they drafted a legit two guard. If the Knick did the same, we'd likely not have the same results... PRIMARILY BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER ABOVE AVERAGE BIG MEN IN THE FOLD.

We don't want Kwame the "PLAYER" bitty. We want his "EXPIRING" which would be a perfect "GM" thinking/philosophy.

I don't give a shyt about expiring or not expiring because explain to me where we will get this magical power forward or center through a free-agent signing? Guess what MR GM there all taken up and locked into deals so unless you would prefer Pau Gasol or Mr I'm always hurt Jermaine O'Neal he isn't available. Because Howard, Yao, Boozer sure as hell aren't coming to NY anytime soon.

So your left with oh this is rich Kwame Brown and David Lee as your starting 4 and 5. Then of course our guards Meybury, Crawawful, and Q Brick yea that will be a pretty sweet team. Oh thats right I forgot we're going to get the number 1 pick this summer then in 2009 Lebron or Kobe will sign with us. Do I have it right so far?

You rebuild, fool. We're not looking to 2009. We're looking past that. You rebuild the right way and trading for expiring contracts is the right way. Obviously this way hasn't worked.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

First off you don't want go there b/c I have been known to make grown men cry

Secondly bring something to the table about this "rebuilding" the right way. People talk about clearing all this cap space for what purpose who do you want that could come to NY? Instead of the usual vacant statement of rebuidling tell me how you would use this new-found money?

Simple: Stay under the cap until a premier player becomes available and attempt to sign him. Until that moment, collect all the draft picks you can get through trades and draft your franchise player in the top 5. It's not really a hard concept to understand. If you want to keep trading to cover up this mess, it wont get you anywhere. It hasn't worked and there is no reason to continue something that hasn't worked.

As for making grown men cry, how about grow up instead? What am I supposed to be scared of an internet tough guy? Seriously, STFU.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
