For years Portland went after the very talented troubled star and saw nothing but poor results and weekly problems. They learned their lesson and cleaned up their act. NOw they actually can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Will we learn?

probably not.

The difference is Portland acquired there players for the sake of winning. Since winning was what they cared about in the end. There was allways room to clean up there act. Knicks acquire there players for the sake of selling tickets.

this is what consistently perplexes me about Dolan's strategy... anyone knows that NY fans traditionally root for the underdog, blue collar workman type hustle players, yet he conisistently supports Isiah's moves to go after known underachievers, spoiled primadonnas & bad chemistry guys who carry w/them big bloated contracts.

If you had read the rest of it "I'm more concerned with clearing out the sludge of this organization than I am about what pick we get." you would have had your answer.

Nevermind I'll go back to analytical reading 101.
We can bring in a special type of player that can turn things around. It's possible for one guy to change the culture. You bet your asse if Lebron or Michael Jordan or Patrick Ewing or Tim Duncan walked in here, your culture is changing. But that's a lot to ask, so why ask.

Now im confused because you say this and I responded with disagreeing that one player could change this culture. But now your saying thats not what you were saying at all but rather you are more concerned about cleaning out the sludge.

So I am truly confused do you think one player could change the culture or do you think the management needs seriously overhauling before any player could change the culture?

Jesus Bitty it aint that difficult. I'm saying that it can happen. A once in a lifetime player does come along and change the culture. It's happened before. But we should not be pinning our hopes on that and should worry about fixing our issues first. Why is it so hard to understand? Why do you continue to argue with me, when about 2 hours ago, I said we held the same opinion?

I think Portland made many of the same mistakes we are currently making. They just finally figured out that the method doesn't work so they changed. Now they are trying something new. A method that actually has worked. There is no one here saying that are going to win a title. And there is no one here saying that they won't slide right back down into the abyss. But they are putting themselves in position. Position to make better moves. Position to have luck come their way. That's all you can ask. They stopped the madness. WE have yet to do so and are continuing to build upon a flawed team that is leaving us with little direction.

I mean even when they were adding talented troubled players. They did it for the sake of winning. Winning was allways there goal, even if they used the wrong methods. With us all we want to do is sell tickets. So we probaly won't change our methods taking a step back in talent in order to maintain the balance to win in the future.

I won't disagree with you on the Portland front because I don't know much about the Portland situation and their motivations. I do know that regardless of their intentions they made some very poor decisions. I do know that you are probably correct when it comes to the Knicks. Our intentions seem to always be "fill the seats first, win games second".

Why are you so upset not necessary to get your blood pressure up? Look if your saying that there is no player that can fix THE KNICKS not Boston not Phoenix, not Cleveland but the NEW YORK Knicks situation until Isiah Thomas is removed then we are in agreement.

Now that was easy enough

Wow, people are really biotchy today. My blood pressure was clearly up in response to your purposefully targeted sarcasm. I'm the sarcasm master and know when I'm being sarcastic it will get someone's ire up. I normally don't try to pretend that I wasn't being sarcastic as you are and don't act surprised when someone responds to my sarcasm.

I forget sometimes that if you don't make definitive statments like the Knicks are doomed under Thomas, or the Knicks are great people will try to pin you to one side. I will break it down this way so it's not so hard to understand

Fact: It is reality that a once in a life-time player can come along, take the reigns of this team and help turn the culture around whether Isiah is here, or Dolan is here or not. I'm sorry if I don't hold the typical gloom and doom approach that some of you hold. If a young Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson walked through this door, sorry things are changing. Now Bitty, at no point in time have I said this is going to happen. I have just raised the possibility that it can happen. If you disagree, fine.

My Opinion: My opinion is that despite the slim possibility that it could happen I in no way think it is intelligent management to to shoot for this. As a matter of fact I do think that with the current management in charge it would be very difficult for even the Michael Jordan's of the world to carry out. I also do not feel that there is a Michael Jordan in this current draft. Therefore I am not worried about the draft. I'm not worried about the "next Michael Jordan". I am only concerned with finding a way to change the culture of the team first. And then build second.

Bitty: Please seperate the difference between my factual statement and what my opinion on the current KNICKS SITUATION. The only difference between your statement and mine is taht you are being definitive and I am not. I choose not to be definitive because as we all know, NOTHING IN SPORTS IS DEFINITE.

Alright why did you just write this huge response totally not necessary.

Very simply I do not believe that there is a player right now in the league or on the world stage, college, high school, junior high, anywhere else that could change this team around in its current state. IMO but I could be wrong.

Isn't that what I just said?

I hate what the knicks have done to us. We argue on a daily basis over the smallest items. We even are saying things like "women are smarter than men". It's disgusting what the Knicks have done. Fire Thomas!
