maybe his dad told his family not to tell Steph about it at the time he left the Garden? who knows.

very possible. Dad has pains and tells MSG security he is leaving and also letting them know not to worry. yes, I see that happening.

I am friends with a number of Steph's relatives. Old and young. There is absolutely NO anger towards the Knicks organization in reguards to this. It's being mumbled by other people (fans). Not the family.....at all. Funeral is Tues. Then I'll know 100% what's good. From what I am told it's a nonissue.

Thanks for that Thelonius.. hey let him know that ultimateknicks.com wishes him and his family well.

I am sure you can pass along that all fans feel for him despite what we think of the Knicks and his game and more than appreciate the community man that he is regardless of our attacking his game online.

Also, I am wondering if you saw or know of the assertion that a family member phoned WFAN last night and was ripping the Knicks for their handling of the situation and that Steph was saying he was done with the Knicks.

If a family member did indeed say to let Steph play out the game that makes me feel a little relieved in regards to MSG but I still gotta wonder why anyone would make that call...I just don't understand. I have read that Don had been ill for weeks and that his falling ill at the game would have caused great concern. Life is far bigger than basketball I don't feel good knowing Steph was allowed to finish out the game when he could have spent time with his father.

Well, whatcha gunna do I guess. It's a real crappy situation all around.

It all depends sometimes. Sometimes when there is a death people do not act accordingly like the would if they were in the right state of mind. Many times when there is a death people are just looking for answers because they are angry. However, when a person cools down they sometimes will change their view on things. Only time will heal a situation with death.

Thanks. Let Marbury know that we are sorry about his loss. Also, at a more appropriate time, let him know that despite our constant rips on him, we want him to succeed and only get on him because we believe he can do better.

I just reread the entire thread to see what you're talking about. What are you talking about?

Check out Islesfan's response, the second line. It suggests that Marbury contributed to his father's death. It just isn't the time for that. Also, check out some of the other threads about this topic. We have folks talking about how they hope Marbury will sit out or never play again, etc. There are not a lot of comments of this nature, because most of us are sensitive enough to understand a man losing his father is more important than entertainment. But there are some.

oohah

I don't necessarily read those comments to be as heartless as you do. For instance, that line by Islesfan could be read sincerely too (or not). Marbury has been in the eye of the storm since at least the LB season, and it's been peaking since the summer. Surely even you must wonder if that, plus the resultant boos that the father has witnessed, etc, could have been a contributing factor in the matter.

In general I think people are being respectful of Marbury and his family - but we are still knicks fans, and it should be open to discussion as to how this incident and it's reprocussions will affect the team.

My Condolences to Marbs and his family I pray for him and his family.
Now!!! Blueseats you are really f#*Ked UP!! Sorry Martin but this man will find a way to start stuff anyway he can. If you can't say something desent don't say anything.

I think that if you want to start a board about the death of Marbs father when did they know it, who knew it, and what did they do and say and who did they say it to. Then start a board on that. this board is the wrong place to start stuff.Have some respect. Just say your peace out of respect and be gone. If you can't do that then out of respect don't say or do anything.

I'm not going to get into it with you papa, your opinions mean far too little to me. I'm just riding it out till you get your ignore button.

From SI.com

Don Marbury was taken from Madison Square Garden to St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center during halftime, reportedly because of chest pains, but a family member advised a Knicks official not to inform Stephon Marbury at the time.

Let's not freak out until the dust settles folks.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

According to this article. a family member urged the Knicks not to tell Stephon. Maybe this will calm you guys down a little. The fact is, only the family knows what happened and that's all who should know.

Not sure whose at fault for not letting him know right away. Maybe that is relevant, maybe not.

Either way, best wishes to the Marbury family in this difficult time.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
