lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

The BEATLES: "Cry Baby Cry"

smile Eddy, smile
keep your joy awhile
you're old enough better
so smile Eddy smile

The king of Marigold was in the kitchen
Cooking breakfast for the team
The queen was in the parlour
Making cardboard cutouts of the children of the king

Smile Eddy smile
Keep your joy awhile
She's old enough to know better
So Smile Eddy smile

The king would hold tell her tersely
all the ticket-holdin' whities can go away
And then he'd hold her gently
whis-per-in "I can't get no love today?"

Smile Eddy Smile
Hold your head up high
We're old enough to know better
So Smile Eddy Smile

The king was in the Garden
Picking players for a team who came to play
The queen was in the courtroom
Painting pictures for the jurors to make him pay.

Smile Eddy Smile
You don't have to go to trial
You're smart enough to know better
so Smile Eddy Smile.

How soon can we get that Ignore Button?

Bonn - hindsight is 20-20

c'mon, do you really think Joe Dumars was worrying about Chancey's balance sheet when they raised the championship banner?

enjoy the ride.

as with a lot of isiah's moves, it's not just in hindsight that they were bad. jerome james and steve francis, everyone knew they were mistakes. most of his other moves have left at least some people scratching their heads. just saying...

effort is key with e-city. my concern this year was that he would lapse and not get involved when he wasn't being force-fed the ball. instead, for these first few games, he's worked hard on the boards and on defense. he's still got skills to develop in those areas, but so far i couldn't have expected better from him.

Of course if he gave that type of effort on a regular basis his numbers would be through the roof and this talk of stats and all-star teams would be a given.

My point was in reference to a poster saying 8 rebs and 1 blk wasn't something to get excited over. I think that if you combine those numbers with what he does on offense we can get excited.

Obviously doing that in one game and doing it consistently are two very different things.

I don't disagree with you. I'm just looking at it independent of numbers. I personally don't care what his numbers are. His numbers to a point will be a product of our offense. I do know that if he works his tail off his numbers would go through the roof. Give me 15, 8 and 1 or give me 25 and 10. Give me effort and help win games is all I care about. So in summary I agree with you, nothing wrong with those numbers.

I have absolutely no problem with Eddie learning the game and being patient as he develops. But TMS is correct, that last game is a glimpse of what Eddie could do if he brought that attitude every night. Fans know this and this is why they are tough on him. I am willing to bet that the fans being tough on him is part of his motivation to get better, so I applaud the fans for this. Forget the guys that call him garbage, blah, blah, blah. This is just a small minority that we seem to overreact to. I'm talking about the average fan. The average fan understands that Eddie is growing and has the ability to improve. But the average fan is knowledgeable enough to not tolerate a lack of effort when they see one. As long as Eddie gives that type of effort he will be saluted. But when he slacks the fans will complain. That is life. That is NY. Let's just hope he's ready for it.

Again MisterEarl, no need to protect these guys. They are professional athletes and can take it. College kids get a lot worse and they find a way to handle it, I'm sure Eddie can handle some grumbling when he loafs up court.

This is a very fair post. Its funny how right after you posted this very fair view point, the Johnny-one-note guys that call Eddy garbage (Bonn, MS) post their usual "blah, blah, blah' rhetoric right after yours. Drop the agendas and watch the games. Sheesh!

Eddy's only garbage 70% of the time.

The other 30 he's Shaq-lite.

So 70% of the time we call him garbage, and 30 we salute his shorts.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

What do you make of Shaq now? On a good day he might be Curry-like.

Eddy's shown throughout his career that he can play this way, why last night was such a surprise is curious to me... what he needs to show is his ability to bring it every night... he can absolutely dominate any time he wants to, we all saw it for a string of several games last season when he went on that tear in mid season... i love seeing him play that way & that's why it irks me when i hear nimrods refer to him as garbage... the dude can play, he just needs what most young players need, & that is to learn consistency.

I don't think I have ever seen him play with that much effort on the boards. Even when he didn't get the reb, he was keeping the ball alive on tips & tip outs, or at least attempting to, he missed badly one time and swatted air.

With the crowd yelling Ed-dy, Ed-dy, Ed-dy. Hopefully he wants that feeling again to have the crowd supporting him like that and continues with the enspired play.

Eddy's had some impressive rebounding games over his career, including several double digit efforts last season... i remember the garden crowd chanting his name last season as well when he was on that 20 ppg tear for 11 or 12 straight games or whatever it was... he's shown he can be dominant whenever he wants to be, the question is whether he's going to bring that attitude w/him every night... sometimes it takes a while for younger players to learn how to be consistent & pace themselves effort wise so they have a lot left in their tank late in the games... Eddy's still what, 24 years old? are u guys kidding me giving up on him at this stage in his career??? (not u nyny, just saying)... no one knows if he's going to be a bust or a late bloomer yet at this point... we've all seen him show flashes of greatness over a stretch of several games... next step up is for him to carry that throughout the course of an entire season.
