Misterearl please leave me out of your last qusetion because I have no problem with Allan coming to camp and am on record many times as saying so. As a matter of fact I have said that it is a shame that we have so many guys on the roster because I really want him on the team. IF he can play, we NEED A GUY LIKE HIM. So I'm not sure why you mentioned me in your last post.

I just hope that people will like me

Allan Houston Meets The Mayor

"We were playing full-court and he was guarding Wilson [Chandler] - Wilson's a real energetic guy - and did a good job. I was surprised how good he was moving."

Inside The Numbers

mins played: spontaneous minutes when the Knicks offense needs a jolt
position: at John Starks Memorial shooting guard (and we know he can shoot)
fg%: dependable enough to extend the defense to the 3 point arc
free throw%: automatic
assists: free suit and tie advice for the rookies
ppg: irrelevant, because if he makes nearly half his shots in The Garden the fans will love him

intangibles: imagine it's the year 2019 and David Lee at 36 years old, requests a tryout from the Knicks to attempt a comeback from arthritis after a 2 year layoff...

TheGame/Silverfuel/Knicksfan - Should Knicks GM Mark Jackson invite Lee to training camp or block the door?

Anyone who is not excited about the prospect of substracting Nate and adding houston is downright out of their mind.

Marbury-Collins
Crawford-Houston
Qrich-Balkman
Zach-Lee
Eddy-Jefferies

I think thats a pretty good lineup and still gives us the option to move players, specifically Crawford and Nate. I wouldn't even mind seeing Wilson Chandler get some time at the two, or QRich....

Like the prospect of a second unit that includes

Collins
Houston
Balkman
Lee
Randolf

If guys like Francis and Rose was allowed to use this team why not to give Allan the chance.
He deserves this more than outsiders. The roster problems are so bad that adding another body will change nothing.
Plus this is another way to bring attention from old Knicks fans to the team. You now - some nostalgia

I have no idea what to expect from Houston health wise but I think the best we could ask for is that he stay healthy enough to play about 20 to 25 mpg at both SG and SF and puts up about 9 or 10 PPG. That's if he's not the incredibly slow player he was in his final year. I think he'd help spread the offense significantly too, which wouldn't be measured in his PPG but would be measured in how well the team does with him on the court vs. off the court. That's pretty close to an ideal scenario. For all I know, he could bust his knee in the first pre-season game.

Why would Houston play SF? Has he every played that position much? Didn't Spree have to play SF when he was here?

All the time? Are you saying they played SF 50-50?

My instinct? I really like Lee. He is one of my favorite players right now. I think David Lee has a lot more potential than Houston had stuff in his prime so I would give David Lee a shot.

I don't think I said 50/50, but if you uncracked a secret code about my mind that even I don't know, then I'm very impressed. They did switch very frequently though.

But he can't play, so that means he's not gonna make the team.

I agree and I admire his dedication. He's a REAL Knick. Most of our veterans wear Knicks jerseys but they're not real Knicks.

I rememer Houston playing small foward for a while during the 98 season. Starks was going through a slump so vangundy inserted him into the starting lineup and moved Houston to the 3. He'll be alright playing either the 2 or 2 I think.
