I honestly don't really get the obsession with attacking earl here.

It's almost like he stole some folks' lunch money on the playground at 8 years old.

The man just posted an entire list of reasons to show how sometimes he's right and sometimes not, yet he's still attacked. He clearly loves the Knicks, and has probably been a fan longer than some here have been alive.

For me it's about the FUN of reading his insights and entertainment/educational value of interacting with "the answerman," which he has been for longer than this forum has been in existence. He drops all kind of knowledge in clever ways here.

I can understand the frustration with feeling that he kind of teases folks, but it's not like others are exactly innocent in their treatment of the man. Earl defends the Knicks because he cares about the team and "keeping hope alive!"

Why is this such a bad thing? If he's wrong, he's wrong.

If he wants to dish it out, as you admit he has, then he should certainly be able to take it. Right?

Why is it that only one side is wrong here? Let's not make misterearl out to be some kind of innocent victim.

And hindsight and generalizations aren't knowledge.

I'm surprised you don't get it, Dr. President. It's called EOD, or "Earl Obsessive Disorder."

Leave MisterEarl alone. At least he is straight forward and can admit when he is wrong. Besides, we need more posters who aren't complete douche bags.

I appreciate Wilson Chandler's mental fortitude. I like the fact that he has David Lee and Balkman to compete against. They will make him hustle. He might not be the next McGrady, but I think he might be a pretty decent player. And, I like the name "the Mayor"... its fitting for NYC.

It's only basketball.

Presike - whosineva lunch money I stole, it must've caused a permanent loss of self-esteem that I must accept for the rest of my days on earth. The extra Twinkies were kinda tasty though, and i was hungry.

The mere thought of a 6'8 forward with some fluidity (and outside range) to his game seemed to be only lacking the confidence that sometimes springs from the love and affection of a few adoring fans who don't mind taking up a noble cause... just for the fun of it.

Voila!

The Mayor just felt like the right hook at the right time. Besides, I wouldn't be the first person to hallucinate in the searing heat of the Las Vegas desert. Or the last.

Judging by the growing number of fans who react positively to his candidacy as a small forward to replace the incumbent dinosaur that is Quentin Richardson, I would say that my work has not been in vein... or vain.

The Answer Man ain't that kinda dude.

I'm in complete agreement here. Some people enjoy misterearl's posts, some do not. If you are in the latter group, please put him on your personal ignore list. The endless back and forth posts upon posts that go absolutely nowhere are annoying and pointless. Thanks for your cooperation.

Amazing he is still only 23!

Maybe if the kid took a diffent path instead of riding the pine he might have developed properly. From what I say he was a very agile kid who could more pretty good for a 7 footer.
I think turning pro at 16 did not help him, but there is good money in the Euro leagues and 16pt avg is not bad.

The kid had personality and I like him. I hope he succeeds and maybe makes it back to the NBA one day.

LOL! You are off the hook for now, but I reserve the right to bring it back should you step out of line. I shall call it my "get out of a banning free, card"

Nalod - i celebrated with everyone else the night L:ampe saluted the Knicks crowd on draft night. he was a potentially feel-good story waiting to happen as he waited for his number to be called after much speculation about his "first-round" talent.

Unfortunately, too few under-20 year-olds turn out to be so mature and passionate about work as Kevin Garnett. My Spider Sense is that Lampe had a mild touch of Brett Favre Disease. Farve, the second round pick of the Falcons, who had to escape the lure of Atlanta's night life to Green Bay, (via one of the worst trades EVER for a running back named Tony Smith) to focus and re-focus on football.

The rest is history.

Lampe would make a great comeback story... and I love good stories.... unfortunatley, his cups of coffee in Phoenix and North Carolina were only evidence of dashed dreams and unrealized potential.

i hope Lampe works his way back through Summer League in time to wear Jerome James' pristine, never-used number 31 jersey... alongside Randolph Morris and DeAndre Jordan

NYKBocker - I still have nightmares about watching the draft and watching Ron Artest sit there... waiting.

Okay I confess, this whole Mayor thing was just a serendipitous detour based on a few bright moments in Las Vegas... but... the more the young man gains minutes and experience something is becoming gradually apparent...

... dis yoot can play a lick!

Perfect

I don't care if it's a pickup game at West 4th Street. That was the best (offensive and defensive) half by any Knicks player this season. 8-8 from the field 2/2 from three point range 19 points 9 rebounds and only one, yup just one... turnover - sheesh.
