Cory (North Dakota): Rick, The internet is buzzing with a rumor that claims you said Artest going to New York. Any truth to the rumor?

Ric Bucher: (3:11 PM ET ) Good to know the Homeboy radio program by Roger B. Brown in Dallas gets that much attention. I spoke with Roger yesterday and said that I'd heard a rumor that a Artest deal was in the making, but the terms I'd heard didn't work under the cap. That said, Artest would love to be in New York, Sacramento would love to move him and the Knicks would love to have him. When you have three parties who want something, I have to believe -- much like the Minny/Boston/KG situation --it's going to get done.

Speculation.....

it'll be interesting to see what isiah does ultimately give up (if, indeed, this trade is consummated). it could be argued that the kings have no leverage. they don't want artest in sac, and they have to face facts that he could bolt after next yr as a FA. so they could just want to get a young player or two (nate? balkman) and expiring contracts and cut their losses.

it helps for the knicks to have a 2-1 or 3-1 deal, as mentioned, it opens up a spot for nichols (who makes up for the loss of nate w/ regards to outside shooting).

If you're gonna starphuck just to draw in as much money as possible immediately without caring about building a championship core, then adding Artest makes a lot of sense--just like the Marbury, Curry, Crawford, Zach, and McDyess trades did.

why is artest a starphuck?

He defends, can shoot from deep. He's a 2-way player without a long contract.

Agree Martin.

While Artest is psycho, he's certainly no starphuck. He is a very good player who doesn't have a long contract and DOESN'T make big bucks which means if he does have some issues, it makes his contract that much easier to kick to the curb.

Anthony, NYC: You said you heard about terms of the proposed Artest to NY deal (eventhough they didnt work under the cap)... care to share some details? Is Isiah true to his word that Lee/Balkman are off limits for Artest?

SportsNation Ric Bucher: (3:41 PM ET ) a first-round pick, Nate Robinson and either David Lee or Balkman. They'd have to include Malik Rose to make the numbers work and Sac only wants expiring contracts. Hence the problem

Fuck you isiah you make that move, and you will because the pathetic group you brought in might finish 10th in the conference

If Sac wants expiring deals then perhaps they will wait and take Jones & Dickau.

Draft Pick +
Jones - $3,300,000
Dickau - $2,800,000
Nate - $1,268,160 = $7,368,160 for Artest = $7,526,316

I don't know it that's within the cap requirements, but it looks close.

MS - why don't you direct your anger towards the person (Bucher) making the speculation?

or is despising Isiah such a spectator sport that he deserves to be cursed for simply talking on his cel phone?

I would do Jones, Dickau, Nate for Artest. No need to throw in a draft pick.

Are we seriously saying that Sac is going to take Nate + filler for Artest?
That's the best they can do? Come on...

Jones + Dickau + Balkman + Nate = Artest.

Speaking of which........ Marbury, Artest, Zach, Curry...

What is Isiah trying to pull -- the 2000 Blazers here?

Man, all he has to do next is trade Malik Rose and David Lee for Rasheed Wallace, and then we're all set.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

How many teams are out there willing to take a chance on Artest? I'd wager not many.

The Kings want to dump Artest's deal because they don't want him on the team next year and have no plans of resigning him once his contract is up.

We are taking the risk giving up a prospect for a guy who could end up being a one year rental; a one year rental with the potential to seriously disrupt the team.

I say take it or leave it. No Balkman. No Lee. No first rounder.

Its like a groupie website, or bitter ex-wives club. -Sebstar

Some guy who broke the Randolph trade on RealGM said

Nate, Balkman, Rose, and picks or Jones are on the table

That's a pretty typical terrible I SAY UGH deal. Basiclly trading 3 first round picks and essentially an expiring for a SHORT FUSE. Not to mention Artest could walk after next yr.

i don't think any deal we present to LA will be "fair" in terms of talent... the only way we can get Kobe is if Kobe demands a trade to NY... in that case, they won't be able to get fair value in return... you're probably right tho, another attractive piece would have to be added to make it work... maybe include Chandler in the deal on top.

I agree with your post TMS. I only have one problem.

I like Chandler, he looked good in summer league, but we have to remember there were alot of GMs that felt Isiah reached severely for Chandler so I'm not so sure his stock around the league is high as it is here on this forum.

that's a fair point... it just all depends on how Kobe handles this whole situation & how much he paints the Lakers into a corner to trade him... he could decide to just play out the season & then opt out, who knows... for some reason i just see him trying to force his way to the Knicks because of all the superstars that are moving around in the league... he's so damn competitive that i know he's itching to get the hell out of LA & make a huge splash of his own.

He defends, can shoot from deep. He's a 2-way player without a long contract.

If that was the full picture (and you KNOW it isn't), his last two teams wouldn't have been desperate to trade him.
