Jefferson, Gomes, Green and a #1 is a stiff price but after getting Allen, they had to go for it.

Gotta give Ainge credit, there's no waffling on plans, they decided to try to win now and went All In, with 3 All-NBA players still playing at a high level.

I don't think that part of the deal (Jefferson, Gomes, Green & #1) is as stiff a price as is extending KG.

This is what realgm.com is saying:

One involved source said the final package will have the Celts sending Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and a No. 1 pick to Minnesota to acquire Garnett.

That seems like a lot...how many players do you need to have on a roster??

Oh O.K.

Marbury
K.G.
Curry

can compete as contenders
but

Allen
Pierce
K.G.

Can't compete... too many things may go wrong

LOL @ US all the time

Did Marv ever say that Curry, Garnett and Marb can win a title? Not sure if he did. True,I understand what your saying about the Celts, but keep in mind, Malone and Payton joined a team that already won a championship without them. Same with Finely. Also, they had Shaq, and Duncan respectively to lean on.

al jefferson averaged 20 and 10 post all star break as a 20 year old. i mean obviously you have to like putting jesus shuttlesworth, the TRUTH, and KG together, but what else is there? rajon rondo will fit in well as a defense-minded PG, but they literally have little else (especially if gomes is dealt, he is a great garbage man who does little things).

interesting deal, definitely going to get celtics season tickets (its my last year living in boston) if it goes through, b/c seeing just the top 3 (jesus, truth, KG) is going to be very fun to watch.

Be interesting what that extension is going to be. At least 25 mil a year for 3 years after next?

First thing I do if I am ainge?? Trade Pierce.

Its gonna be fun watching the Celts. Kinda of like shaving a stubborn dogs belly and create training them.

I take it some non NY KNick teams enjoy our demise the last few years.

Payback is a bitch. Ainge overpaid to Starphuch.

Doesn't matter that those teams won championships before, the addition of those players could have ruined the chemistry that was already there and in those cases I mentioned they didn't. It's indisputable evidence.

I'm so depressed. KG is one of my favorite players. Plays with such fire and is such a good all round player.
I knew it was a long shot, but I had so hoped to see him a Knick.

AP is reporting it.
Source: T-Wolves to Send K.G. to Celtics
By HOWARD ULMAN

BOSTON (AP) -- Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told The Associated Press on Monday.

Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed. The official also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice.

I am not in love with that deal for the celtics, but do believe they have a good chance to make it to the nba finals and they still have their midlevel. I guess if you have the chance to get kg you do it.

But Jefferson is going to put up very similiar numbers they give them an expiring deal which they can turn into a good player if they want and green could turn out to be a good player....Really like Gomes off the bench for a good team, if i was McChale I would look to make another deal.

Kev being tucked away in his beloved "Sota" was a good story. Of course the media has been pretty good to him since Spree left town. Before he was on the hook for lack of winning. Conf finals helped his cred, but other than that he was "all alone" but with a better attidude than "whatshisnameBury" was.

Boston is one planter Facist thinggy away from being blasted as the next team loading up on three stars and no money for the supporting cast. Poor Doc Rivers is gonna have to really work now.

One Celtic fans will get to vomit in the isles as Pierce gets paraded as one of the Celtic "Heroes" of the past with that poser Ainge. But they might get saved if they dump him next year after he can't get them thru the quarter finals past the Nets!

Well, at least if we weren't going to get him, I had hoped Chicago would, so I could win my Vegas bet for the 2008 NBA Champion

Man, Boston quickly jumps into being the most compelling team to watch in the NBA. It's a starphuch of epic proportions but one that will get them $$$$$.

Crazy that Chicago basically could not get KG because they didn't have an awful salary to dump.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

You might get another East team to bite on taking Zach now, but I'm not sure if that helps us. Odom is the only guy out there we could get that would seem to upgrade us at that spot.

If we did the same deal many fans would complain we were giving up our future for an aging high priced star once again.

we had a thread about KG to NY and thats exactly what many people here were saying, and that was a year or 2 ago.

And I consistently said that was nonsense. Back to the first suggestion that we should not trade Frye for KG.
I had a good laugh at that.

ainge still sucks, but he basically gets credit b/c he sucked in every right way where isiah went wrong.

he didn't cut expiring contracts; he stockpiled draft picks instead of throwing them away; and he got a superstar.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

no brainer trade for boston.

if you have pierce + ray, you go get yourself kg and make your run for the next 3 years.

if ainge is able to get ray + kg in one offseason while keeping pierce, that's pretty impressive.

and it's something we should've considered - ALL IN was the way for us to go. we should go after artest.

I was thinking the same thing. But I wonder if when KG to Boston goes down the price for Artest goes up. Isiah might really have to start thinking about sending Lee to the Kings for Ronnie - something he's be reluctant to do so far. I'm afraid that's what it'll take fellas. Should we do it? Considering that I don't see how Lee will ever get the PT he needs to continue developing here anymore (Randolph's our 4 and only 26 and Lee's not a 3 or a 5), I'm leaning toward pulling the trigger on this now. Now Geoff Petrie's said recently that he's not interested in moving Ron but it makes a lot of sense. First, they have options for replacing Artest at SF: Abdur-Rahim (who I always saw as more of a 3 than a 4 anyway), Kevin Martin, John Salmons, Francisco Garcia, etc. Plus, they don't have anyone like Lee on that roster. Kenny Thomas has always been a little on the small size for a 4 and not the most athletic and even though they just picked up Mikki Moore, he's more of a shooter, like a Channing Frye, than a traditional athletic/power/rebounder type of PF. Lee would be perfect for them. If we made this trade, I'd like to have them include Justin Williams too. This is a young athletic shotblocker that could fit in nicely for us. Physically, he's a little thin right now but he goes a legit 6'10" with a tremendous wingspan so, unlike Lee, he can play some 5. He could bring the missing shotblocking element and I think I like his overall athleticism a little more than Randolph Morris. But yeah dude, time to start seriously thinking about bringing Artest home now if this Boston thing goes down. Absolutely.

Wow, man, I'm really just dumbfounded.
This year, Boston goes worst to first.
