Hey man Bobs is only a "kid" being 21 and all. I mean it's not like we should expect him to conduct himself like an adult since he's only old enough to vote/buy liquor/die in a war/be a father/maybe move out of his momma's house

It's called being held at gun point. I hope you never have to face a barrel of a gun to wonder about it.

Yeah, seriously. Someone else I was talking to said the same thing. I was like, "uhh... gun?"

Anji - so do you find what happened to Eddy Curry, or the family in Connecticut, as funny?

Does that amuse you?

Hey Matt when 3 masked gunmen break in to your house and stick guns in you and your wife's face how will you handle it? I'm picturing you being a combination Superman and Bruce Lee so please tell us all how bad a beating you would have gave those guys. I know you would have kicked their butts. I'm just curious what method you would have chosen.

Making a joke of Curry, isn't same as making fun of that robbery. He is a grown in the lime light, a little a sarcastic joke shouldn't be unexpected. Stuff happens, nobody got hurt....we move on. Some with comedy and others with Righteous indignation...... either is fine with me.

"Righteous indignation"

Yeah, that pretty much sums up misterearl.

I wouldn't be in that situation. I've been to chicago and seen the bad side of it.

Anji - I wasn't asking your opinion of Eddy Curry

I was asking your opiniop of the invasion and robbery of his home and the Connecticut home invasion.

what is your honest opinion of those two events?

That sounds like a cop out especially since Curry lives in a very nice area. Surely you wouldnt let 3 guys with guns tie you up. Are you soft?

For Anji

George Ruhe/Associated Press

CHESHIRE, Conn., Aug. 6 — Dr. William A. Petit Jr., his head bloodied and legs bound, stumbled out of a rear basement door of his two-story home here into a pouring rain, calling the name of a neighbor for help.

The neighbor heard the shouting, but so did the two men inside the house, who peeked outside from an upstairs window. They were both serial burglars with drug habits, having racked up numerous convictions for stealing car keys and pocketbooks.

This time, they took something far more precious.

The men, the authorities say, had already strangled Dr. Petit’s wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, and in short order would also kill the couple’s two daughters, Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11. The elder suspect, Steven J. Hayes, 44, had poured gasoline on the girls and their mother, according to a lawyer and a law enforcement official involved in the case, in hopes of concealing DNA evidence of sexual assault. He had raped Ms. Hawke-Petit, and his partner, Joshua Komisarjevsky, 26, had sexually assaulted Michaela.

Moments after Dr. Petit escaped, as the house was being surrounded by police officers, the men lighted the gasoline. The girls were tied to their beds but alive when the gas Mr. Hayes had spread around the house was set aflame.

It was about 9:50 a.m. on July 23 when Dr. Petit, 50, burst into his backyard on what is normally a quiet street in a quiet town of 29,000 in central Connecticut. On this stormy summer morning it was the site of one of the most savage crimes in the state in decades. By 10:01, Mr. Hayes and Mr. Komisarjevsky had been captured. On Tuesday morning they are expected to be presented in New Haven County Court for their first appearance in the venue where they will be tried; they have been formally charged in State Superior Court in Meriden with capital felonies, which could bring the death penalty.

Eddy Curry was lucky.

The comedians among us who think what happened to him is a laughing matter should read the entire story, if their attention spans can stand it

Puzzle solved
Police link home invasions of Curry, Walker
Posted: Friday August 10, 2007 4:55PM; Updated: Friday August 10, 2007 9:13PM

CHICAGO (AP) -- Authorities charged four men Friday in connection with the armed robberies of two NBA players in their Chicago area homes last month.

Police said they found nothing to indicate other athletes had been targeted.

"Hopefully, if they had any plans of doing this again, we've put a damper on those plans," Chicago police commander Thomas Byrne said.

New York Knicks forward Eddy Curry was tied up and robbed in his suburban Chicago mansion a few weeks after Miami Heat Forward Antoine Walker had been similarly robbed at his $4 million Chicago town house.

The four men suspected in the robbery at Walker's home are charged with home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping, Cook County state's attorney spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said.

She identified the suspects as Phillip Allison, 28, Antoine Larkins, 28, Demorris Hill, 25, and Gregory Reedfields, 23, all of Chicago.

Burr Ridge Police Chief Herbert Timm said Hill and Larkins are also being charged with armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping and home invasion in the Curry case. A third suspect in the Burr Ridge case has not been identified, Timm said.

The robbery at Walker's home occurred July 9 when Walker, a Chicago native, was at home with a relative. Multiple masked robbers bound the two with duct tape and held them at gunpoint. They made off with Walker's Mercedes, cash and jewelry.

Less than three weeks later, Curry, his wife and an employee were tied up and robbed by masked gunmen at his Burr Ridge home.

Byrne said the police used cell phone records, fingerprints and surveillance camera video to gather evidence in the case.

"This was literally these guys putting together a pretty intricate puzzle and piecing it all together," he said.

Byrne said the four men are in custody and due in bond court Saturday.

Law Enforcement today amazes me sometimes with what they're able to do. I'm glad these guys were caught, cuz this is the kind of thing that could easily get out of hand one day if the wrong thing happened during the robbery. Someone could easily be hurt or worse doing stupid things like this.

(A Great, but perhaps too difficult a read for too many people)

A Perfect Summary

"The link between real and pretend violence has been so completely severed that some of the ability of movies to offer a critical perspective — to elicit thought as well as gasps and chuckles — has been lost. We’ve become pretty comfortable watching the infliction of pain, and quick to laugh it off."
