Asking if he can dunk is like asking if he has a jump hook. He doesn't NEED it to be effective, but being able to do it helps. It's not a big deal but it's not irrelevant either.

Im not worried at all about Z-Bo on offense. The guy clearly plays all over the court and can even handle the rock well enough to bring it up court. Watching video of him he reminds me of a better Antoine Walker. One that doesn't shoot as many dumb 3's but has a lot of the same skills. Like Walker he's quick footed, agile, has a good handle, can take his man off the dribble, can shoot with range and post. He's just more efficient at it. Even all those little below the rim flip shots are similar.

I expect the whole starting unit will try harder on D, despite some of the guys not really being naturally gifted at playing D. If Q is healthy he'll bring a certain effort level and so will Steph, then it will be up to whoever Isiah puts on the floor at the 3. IF he starts both Q and jamal I expect that Jamal will guard the PG, cuz he's quick enough and doesn't have to worry about the strength thing. If he plays Q at the 2, then it's either Jared or Balk at the 3 and we'll have another good defender out there. This will give Zach and Curry a better chance to defend within their limitations. Both do OK on their own man, but it's the Help D where they suffer.

Curry actually has a chance to be a better help defender if he comes in lighter. The guy has the hops and length to block a shot, but he can't be too heavy or he won't be quick enough to get over and get high enough. I don't care if he gets a lot of blocks, but I do care if he at least makes the attempt to get over and change some shots. Both guys can get better at stepping over and closing down the lane, maybe drawing a charge once in a while. It's not all about blocking shots.

I disagree. The guy scores 23 pts a game, who cares if he can dunk. Some of the greatest scorers of all time(Bird, Mchale, Alex English, Dantley, Aguirre) dunked a combined 6 times in their careers. It's cool for the highlight reels but for winning games it is absolutely meaningless.

But it's not irrelevant either, in the sense that yes, being able to dunk helps your game because it is a higher percentage shot. Not necessarily, because a lot of guys that can dunk and rise above the competition aren't required to learn the finer points of positioning and using your body etc so it has a way of evening out. Another ability that could help his game would be to shoot 92% from the line. Or shoot 45% from three. Or clear a side and use Jordan like quickness to beat his man off the dribble. Or flying over the defense like Carter. It all would be great. But chances are that he developed his current skill set to offset his lack of athletic skills.

I guess it's cool to fantasize about him being able to post up like he can while also being able to jump like Vince but in the end it's irrelevant. In the end His game is his game. Now let's fight.

sure. but there's a difference between caring about it, and just idly wanting to know.

who on our team can make a half-court shot? i don't particularly care / it doesn't really matter as far as our games go. but it's the summer and games are a ways off. why not ask a dumb question or two?

I think hitting on Bonn soley for his self proclaimed demunitive stature or robotic tendencies without reference to a quote, or a knick subject is kind of low.

Nalod defending Bonn might be out of character but after a few years there is history amung us and if anything its gotta be reasonable on the humor scale or creative. I think the prerequesite is at least 2 years and 7,000 posts. Thats UK mafia levels and we all have history. We all go at from time to time, but really the guys who I went at it the hardest in the past like Eny, Hardcore and Bonn (all different mind you) are all the guys I want to meet in person now. Even Isles!

I gotta admit it surprised me that you defended me! I am a little closer to NY now. So coming to a Knick get together might be workable, especially in Dec or Jan. I've gotta meet the NALOD!
