I'm just extending the same philosophy that others apply to the Knicks, to the Magic and wondering why there is a double standard. This move is ok.

the double standard goes both ways - so-called "lovers" are bashing the move while supporting randolph. whatever. you're not the first one trying to argue that there's some biased analysis floating around.
Since you shoehorned the Randolph move into a convo about the Magic, I'll say this --- both the Magic and Knicks acquired talented, but hardly elite, talents where the predictive evidence of success vs. failure is relatively even. Neither team received Jordan in his prime.

truly. although, i'd point out that, while we got a weak defensive low post stud to complement our weak defensive low post stud, orlando got a weak defensive deadeye shooter to complement their defensive stud. ultimately success will depend on a lot more than those pairs of players, but we *need* to make moves with those kinds of considerations in mind. at some point.
We've been led to believe that "cap space" is the end-all-be-all philosophy that virtually guarantees a championship, yet we have seen an almost unwavering consistency in teams with "cap space" acquiring the Rashard Lewis' and Bobby Simmons' of the world.

if shard and randolph are comparable talents, then our strategy isn't getting us ahead of the game either.
Just find it comical that the "haters" are "lovers" of this move.

and vice versa. everyone's entitled to their opinion. and their sense of humor.

I find it interesting that the biggest critics of the Isiah regime are practically tripping over themselves to heap glowing praise in regards to the Magic throwing 15 mil a year at a 30-year-old, one dimensional player.

If this is the reward for cap space, then consider me suspicious of that philosophy...wheres all the Lebron, Wade talk when it comes to the Magic? Why didnt they wait?

1. LMFAO He's not even 28 yet.

2. ***** they signed him to that ridiculous contract and still have cap flexibility

3. ***** the signing doesn't force them to pay a tax

4. ***** the signing allows them to explore trading Darko in which 25 other teams in the league covet

5. ***** the signing increased their playoff eligibility possibly pushing them into the Top 4

6. ***** the signing will allow their franchise player more opportunity to become a force

7. ***** the signing didn't create redundancy

8. ***** the signing eliminates any other team to sign him

9. ***** the signing allowed them to get younger(Grant Hill is more than likely a goner)

10. ***** the signing actually filled a need

Let me "axe" you this, since you are taking such a pragmatic and common sense approach to my post, where the hell are you posting at?

This site is called Ultimate Knicks, and the catch phrase is "Pure Knicks Love"...we already agreed that both moves are remarkably similar, relatively speaking, so then why is it so unreasonable that Knick fans take and optimistic view when it comes to the Randolph move?

Nobody is saying that one should leave their critical thinking at the door and become cheerleaders, but I just dont understand abject pessimism for a team you are rooting for, and rose colored glasses for the competitors. Unless of course some around here are being needlessly confrontational and are putting their egos above support and genuine analysis.
