I never understood why the this board was so consumed with talking about the viewpoints other posters take towards this team as opposed to actually talking about the team.

This team has been bad for a LONG time. You're not gonna find a bunch of happy people here, but the fact that people are here shows their loyalty enough for me. If we're born with the ability to like and dislike things then you're gonna see people doing both. So deal with it. Just make your points valid.

Walk the walk.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'll man up. I've voted for the Knicks to lose because I thought we'd be better off with a new GM.

But you have to uderstand there is a context. If the question is "would I rather the Knicks be perennial losers or champions?" of course I'd chose the latter. But if the question is "would I rather we bottom out now for regiem change with the hope of a brighter tomorrow" I'd answer yes.

So when everything was unstable and there was a good chance a horrific season would mean Isiah would get the boot and a new GM would likely come in and dump Marbury and some of the others I could do without, yes, that is what I wished for.

Now that isiah is hunkered down for 4 more years and the pooch (I mean cap) has been blown I have to re-evaluate my MO.

It does feel awkward and I have considered just dropping my participation and leaving this board to die hards, but it's tough, I love the franchise, they are my only team in my only sport. I'm passionately addicted to the Knicks and investing in high priced clowns and rejects, and flipping coaches every year, and scandals, and Hobbybury and his daily faloops, etc, are just more than a fan like me can bear.
I view that as rooting for long-term winning

Hey I'm glad that there's some more heartfelt expression going on. I've openly talked about a time when i've felt negative about the Knicks as an organization and didn't like the players we had. One of the most bitter times was the Layden era. It's not the only time in the last 30+ years, but that one was one of the most painful for me. Just because I have a much less negative posting style, doesn't mean that I love everything about the Knicks org. and every move and every player. It's funny but i've actually espressed displeasure about many things, Francis, Frye, Mo, James etc. I've even bashed Isiah last year for not doing a better job of developing Frye. I take offense to the idea that i'm NEVER take the team to task for bad things they do.

I'm just not overly negative. I like to take a fair look at the talent we've added and the progress that we've made. It doesn't always immediately translate to wins, but you can see when a team is getting closer and make a fair judgement of what kind of progress this team can make from year to year. People can bring up the 33 wins and that's fine, but I think they know this team had a better chance to win more of those games if not for the injuries. Yeah it's an excuse. The thing is that now this team has again added more talent to the roster and many of the guys can fill needs we have. Have they done it yet? No. But I think it's reasonable to expect that at least some of these guys will workout and some of our returning guys will improve due to the help we've gotten and the work they've put in this summer to get better. We've got a lot of guys not yet in their prime and others squarely in their prime years now. IMO this is not a team to be overly pessimistic about.

LOL, the Knicks string together a few losing seasons, and all of a sudden Knick fans act like tortured, abused souls. The Knicks are not the Clippers of the '80s to very recently...they just hit a rough patch, and barring a disaster, should make noise in the Eastern conference. Get over yourselves. You're not entitled to win 55 games every year.

Concerning certain posters --- the more vocal critics lack nuance. Every post is laced with the most negative angle possible emphasized, with cheap shots at Isiah and other posters liberally sprinkled in. 'Ish gets old after a while.

all of a sudden? Knick fans have been complaining about the state of affairs with this team for the past several years... isn't that a fan's right?

people can't help it if they disagree with a move... you either agree with it or you don't... there's no in betweens... there isn't a poster on this forum that isn't a fan of this team, & just because you choose to complain about a move, or support it, doesn't make you any more of a fan... as negative as someone like islesfan may be (just using him as an example), i've never questioned his passion for this team or the fact that he would like to see them win a championship just as badly as i or anyone else does... there's also no rule that says you have to like every player on this roster... everyone has their preferences on the types of players they'd like to see on this team... fandom is centered around subjectivity afterall... being objective doesn't mean you have to like something if you don't... if you consider every side of every move before you formulate an opinion about it, that's as much as you can ask someone in terms of objectivity... people don't like the Zach trade because they've weighed the pros & cons & in their eyes they think it carries more negatives than positives... why that's so objectionable is what i don't understand.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with a move, but when they start rooting against our own players succeeding in a desparate need to be right they are no longer supporting the team. When a person roots against his own players and team how can you really be a fan?

i would be very happy to admit being wrong about Zach next season if he proves to be the type of impact player this franchise has been lacking for the past several years... right now though, i'm not optimistic at all that any real good will come out of this trade... i'm fearing a regression in Curry's development because of Zach's presence here... trust me, i really hope i'm wrong about that, but it's what i see going down.

Thats great to hear but you are not the kind of poster we were discussing.
The obsessive hatred shown towards Isiah, Dolan, Marbury, and Curry by a handful of posters is beyond reason.
Those posters literally root against them and cant wait to post anything negative they can find about them.

Same here. I'd love to see a Knicks championship soon. Rooting against the team is just a garbage claim.

No it aint. There are those here who root for the team to lose. For more embarassment for the franchise. They are the ones who think that by complaining somehow and rooting for the team to lose that they are Real Fans and that Dolan will listen to them or something. In reality, they're just a nuisance like a mosquito buzzing around our collective head. You just wanna squish em.

I find it funny when the guys who are the most bitter hateful posters on this board feign injury when i post a slightly inflammatory comment. Its that old saying-- bullies don't like to be challenged. Theres a lot of groupthink here at UK. Many of you have coalesced into this hate group that makes fun of people who support the team, Especialy nixluva and misterearl. When cossucks comes on with a similar tone, the "haters" act like they're the victims.
Often those that love to dish it run and cry foul because they cant take it.
