obviously we gotta live w/what the situation is... the topic was raised so i'm just chiming in on it... i can also look to the future... there's still a way to make sense of the Zach trade by trading Curry &/or D Lee for an important piece that we're missing right now... i just hope Isiah's got a plan in place to do so & not just end up eating yet another huge contract sometime down the road that doesn't address any of the team's needs the same way he did w/Steve Francis to begin with.

Agreed. You just get the feeling that he's reluctant to make any futher alterations though. Either that or Dolan's told him that he's done shelling out money and he's got to live with what he has. Either way sucks for us and this team. I hope that's not the case. He's got to open his eyes and realize that this things not finished. One thing's for sure - I don't wanna here Zeke ever say again, "I'm happy with our club and our players." "All we need now is time to gel." Bull****! HORSESHIT!!!! If I can sit around my computer here and come up with a half-dozen sensible ways to improve this thing and he either can't or won't, that's a big problem...

i have a hard time trying to decide who's more incompetent, Dolan or Isiah.

Just a note: The Knicks were 4-8 by this time last year. With three more losses coming up, 3-12 isn't looking very good.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The problem is that Isiah always tries to go for the sexy trade, getting somebody who he can market, instead of someone who can make the team better. In the end we always end up with the same old crap.

great post. and when you think about it, wouldn't a frye/ nate or a lee/ nate been good enough for biendrins, especially since both can play uptempo basketball? we could have made that deal, buy out francis and had a PF that fits so much better with curry.. You are right, it is not rocket science...

no. biedrins brings defensive and shot blocking to the table. frye and lee do not. it would be a bad trade for golden state.

I really don't think Lee is a better player in the sense you are talking about...Zack has his share of turnovers and he shoots too much but thats it...He is flat out better than Lee, talent wise and as a player on the court..But Lee is good as well so who cares, they a both Knickerbockers so I'm happy with both....

Lee is a better passer than Zach, runs the court & finishes on fastbreaks better than anyone other than Balkman on this team, & knows his role & accepts it... Zach wants the ball in his hands because he thinks he can carry the load for this team & catapult them to longterm success... meanwhile he's too lazy to run down court to get back on defense whenever he doesn't get a foul called on the other end, just like Marbs & some other members of this team... he's a great rebounder that takes way too many shots considering his low shooting percentage & turns the ball over way too much because he's a black hole that never wants to give the ball up once he gets it... in the long run, i would much rather have D Lee on this team than Zach, both because of the contract situation as well as the personality & character of both players.

Exactly! But Zach Randolph has to many flaws in his game and character ala Marbury to be the star. If you don't make your teammates better on offense or defense then you can't be the star. If Randolph would accept a role player role. Be offensive low post scoring in the flow of offense to go with his great rebounding. Reduce the amount of shots taken and focused on high % shots. He would be a GREAT role player. He is choosing to be a below average star rather than a GREAT role player. Randolph on paper sounds great because of his percieved ability to score in the post and open up the guards on the outside. But he doesn't create for others anyway so it doesn't matter. Takes to many shots at a low % which means many wasted possessions and equates to his teammates not being envolved in the offense. Turns the ball over which means more wasted possessions. Granted he gets a lot of those possessions back with his rebounding ability. But in the end we are only shooting 427% as a team & turn the ball over 17times a game so the rebounding probably turns into more wasted possessions anyway.

Enough about Eddy though. Eddy needs help, no matter how much defense we might be able to squeeze out of him one day. A good GM recognizes a need, then goes out there and pursues it, whether it's readily available or not. You put a list together with your asst. executive personnel, try to pinpoint who you want, then pick up the damn phone, initiate the talks and make it happen.

My list for interior defensive help worth trading for at this time is a short one:

(1) A Justin Williams/Francisco Garcia package
(2) Andris Biedrins
(3) Hilton Armstrong
(4) Samuel Dalembert

"Yeah Mullin? Isiah. How are ya pal? How's the family? Great, listen, I really like the kid Biedrins a lot. How do you feel about Balkman and Randolph Morris? You have some interest in Balkman, but that's not enough? Oh, you really like Lee though. Hum? What was that? Lee and Balkman huh? Well let me think about that. You gonna be around later? Alright, cool, let me talk this over with my people and Dolan and I'll call you later. Thanks Chris."

It ain't rocket science.

I think Knick fans put way too much stock in Dalembert. He is prone to taking nights off and he has a very limited offensive skill.

Hilton Armstrong don't know much about other than his Huskie days but from what I've seen his basically just a back-up.

Andris Biedrins who knows what Mullin would want for him. But doing a trade for Balkman/Lee for Biedrins I don't know about that. Biedrins does what Lee does and can actually block shots (though his free-throw shooting is atrocious). In terms of Balkman GS already has Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes at that position. Why add a guy who cann't shoot when a big portion of your offense centers around 3 point shooting?
