oohah, Frye gets more flak because of where he was drafted and his effort level (in comparison to Lee and Balk).

frye did a hell of a job shutting down west in the second half, and I think we may have found a real player in mardy collins. This team plays hard, they just don't get it yet, mardy does, balk does, steph and a few others do, but as a whole we don't get it, but I like our prospects for next year, and right now it is all bout next year. Soon we will understand that guys like desmond mason and chandler are certifiable scrubs and all you have to do is match hustle play with hustle play and smarts, no way should desmond mason be scoring points on anyone in this league.. No way!!!! and just box out tyson chandler, he will come over your back, and on defense he is just a shot blocker and not a good defender, curry ate his ass up.....

i thought about that but a lot of those boards went directly to him or when there were smaller players around him.

??? Come on man, he's 6'11" most of the players around him are smaller. The only guy bigger than him is the NBA's leading rebounder (or #2).

He grabbed 10 rebounds! That's why I say he can't win. He has to play like a star or he's a total bum around these parts. he played decently tonight even though his shot was off. He also made a nice pass to Balkman and he did not turn the ball over. In fact I think IT played Rose too long, Frye should have gotten more minutes.

Give the kid a break!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

It needs to be said tho. I've been saying it for years. Steph get's fouled so many times, but because he's so strong they tend to ignore them. Unless they REALLY foul him and make his bady move in such a way that it can't be ignored. He doesn't get the slap fouls that other players get. You so much as TOUCH some guys and they get the call.

I just want to see this team get back to within 2 games or less and then take our 2 shots at NJ in APRIL. That would be kind of exciting to see.

His effort level is a matter of perception. I see no evidence that Frye tries less hard than anybody. Also, Lee and Balk are "hustle players". Why not turn that around and give them flak for not having nice jumpers?

Back to effort: 10 boards! Did those all just fall into his hands? Why were the anouncers praising his defense throughout the 4th quarter?

It's funny, everyone says he sucks because he isn't great. But he has shown he as all the tools needed to be pretty good.

I wonder if we change Balkman or Lee's roles upside-down next year, and make them jumpshooters floating on the perimeter, will they play better or worse than Frye has this year?

Like I said. Frye was drafted early. Lee and Balk very late. Frye is expected to contribute more because of where he was drafted. I'm not saying he didn't play with effort tonight, but you'd have to agree that Lee and Balkman play with more effort than Frye on a regular basis.

...or perhaps is just the passion displayed. I think that works against Frye as well.

and are any of you listening to isiah's postgame right now? he's going to get a fine tomorrow lol

hey I love Frye, I built the Frye bandwagon with my bare hands, but he had so many reach in fouls instead of moving his damn feet

You just can't be serious when you are knocking a guys for not rebounding when they pull down 10 and 13 boards respectively...

I would agree that their games are based on effort and hustle so if they don't put in more effort than most players, they don't have a game to play.

It doesn't matter where you were drafted. Once you are in the NBA, you're here. When does that measuring stick go away?

Martin, if Balkman or Lee were played as perimeter floating jump shooters, would they fare better or worse than Frye this year?

Frye annoys me when he displays his passion too much. I like him better when he is composed or smiling.

I'm a bit down on Frye as well...He just doesn't get in there an mix it up enough...At 6' 11" and a good free throw shooter, he has to be involved on the low post...He has to hit people hard and prevent the and 1s...He just has to stop being so passive...

I don't think Balkman's game suffers too much - its not as if too many plays are run for him currently. The same goes for Lee. Frye has been largely ineffective on both ends of the floor this season. And, honestly, his poor jumpshooting that has disappointed me most.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I would settle for Frye filling it up from the outside.

Really you don't think their games would suffer badly if they were played as perimeter shooters?

Because their entire games are based on being near the rim, I think they would lose 50% of their effectiveness. Basically everything they do on offense would be negated. Lee is the leading offensive rebounder in the NBA, that would be gone, Balkman is all about tipping and rebounding, that would be gone, neither of them are good shooters (Lee is a little better than Balkman), so there goes the scoring...

Right now, Balkman can be taken out of a game by leaving him open on the perimeter.
