both of y'all are nets fans. get a room.

You're just jealous that our team appears to be in the playoffs and your's doesn't

raptors just clinched a spot last night

dj did I not tell you you had nothing to worry about?

you did...

dj T.J. Ford next yr will be a Top3 point gaurd. He just needs to stay healthy and get a little stronger. It so interesting how you can look at other teams and say positive things without even questioning yourself, meanwhile with the Knicks we are bewildered and 100% uncertain.

it's probably b/c we don't really have a leader out on the court, and the skillsets of our guys just don't mesh. marbury, crawford and nate like to dribble to create their own shot. the ball movement of this group is quite poor. then you have our bigs, who rely on the guards, and they are not benefitting offensively from them. only eddy b/c jamal knew where he liked the ball, and b/c the rest of our guards are forced to feed him every time down the court. but there's no natural flow to the offense. and that really starts with our guards.

it's just that colangelo comes into town, gets 9 new relatively cheap players, makes one big trade (charlie for tj) and they just are clicking on all cylinders. i guess it will take time here but with our guards, i just don't see it really ever happening.

I agree, especially when the gaurds don't really take a backseat to each other. It's noteworthy that most teams who have things working in sync don't have 5-6 point gaurds or wannabe points gaurd on a team. Toronto has 2 very good point gaurds and one spells the other. The same with all the other contending/good teams.

Honestly the past few weeks have we even been playing with a PG? Mardy has just gotten time lately and even before when he was in, Marbs was playing the point. Marbs the last few weeks has looked for his offense and his offense only. Stevie, forget it. And as for Nate, Stevie is a better PG than Nate.

I'm impressed that we've done as well as we have, without a PG on the roster. When was the last time we had a PG penetrate on a regular basis with the sole idea of puttign pressure on the D and get his teammates easy shots.

ah the predictability is blissful. earl with the passive-aggressive comment. presike with the faux intellectual follow-up. where o where is tomverve with the robotic statistic?
poor little lost boys of the times forum.

I guess that sums it up.

Was reading through the NY Times forums just because Andrew told me they were shutting it down and saw the discussion about UK.com and etc. Have to agree with DJ and think his perspective was spot on - we don't accept/reject readership and postership (there's the odd exception) and you do have to swim through some of the threads to get a good discussion and I personally do skip over some posts to get to the good stuff. I think that the NYTimes guys have had it lucky because of type of visitor that visits that newspaper's site: your next place will be neutral and once it hits a threshold of following, your collective posting will be diluted, trust me on that one.

Earl, you sure do march to your own beat and I do remember reading a bunch of your stuff and wondering how it added any value to the discussion. Never saw you post as an example to others and the way to a better debate/discussion but I have seen you bait some easy fish into the gutter with you. Thanks for that. I guess this goes for a few others too.

I do plan to respond in a respectful manner to some of the comments in this thread, including what djsu wrote on the NY Times forum. I actually wrote most of a long reply to djsu's post on the NY Times Forum (soon to R.I.P.) but was lost by accident. While I am more than happy to engage in a respectful debate about some of these subjects that are of contention I, personally, have a hard time seeing how it is unreasonable to ask some here to stop resorting to straw-man and ad-hominem attacks on those who happen to present positions that they disagree with.

The continued pursuit of such argumentation has made it very difficult to conduct any kind of discussion where natural disagreements arise. I am not interested in making enemies on the forum, and I am sure many who disagree with me, in person, are cool. I disagree with djsu on things about the Knicks, but I also find some of his views insightful and witty, and also met him in person and find him to be a cool cat (shoot he let me do a substitute "Live from...!!!" blog). Hopefully we can all work towards an understanding, but the personal attacks have to stop before I can see any progress made in this area. I know this isn't the "norm" for web forums, but I hope that doesn't constantly have to be used as justification for behavior that in public would not be rewarded and affirmed.

everybody needs to chill out w/the personal attacks around here... respect each others' opinions, no matter how much you disagree w/them... let's not turn this place into another crap forum where all the trolls come to nest.

Seriously, enough already.

Personal attacks directed at anyone associated with the NY Knicks is still good though.
