This signing is awesome. You guys are right on with your comments about the kid.

Channing frye? Outta here!!!!

Yes! This is the perfect freakin move.

Jerome James? Maybe that fat **** will be bought out as well.

Does isiah or anybody down at msg read this thread? Oh baby! This is one of my hopes for the off season.

Shot blocking/rebounding YOUNG cheap big man.

What, what, what!

Now isiah use channing to get a swingman to replace Q and maybe a point guard and the knicks are cooking with zero trans fat!

My favorite unexpected moves were trading for Francis and Mo T.

Isiah's unexpected moves:

1) The hit in Frye's minutes

2) The hit from Mardy Collins

3) The hit on Anucha

Lets all pray for Randolph.

He can be trade meat also. Lets not start building around him so fast.

He could be gone on draft note. Him and and the pick for a higher pick.

Its an asset and a good job by Isiah.

he played Hansborough who has a broken nose and played like crap with the mask on.

Funny, the longer the thread goes on the better he gets.

He may be the second coming of big snacks as a comparison.

The thing that some of us can't seem to get is that this is just the type of deal that I was talking about earlier today in another thread. Isiah always does this. Every year he comes up with someone. He may not be a lot of things, but can there be any doubt about his resources when it comes to getting young talent like this?

All we hear around his is criticism of isiah, but for once it's nice to see that many are appreciative of a shrewd move like this. Only some around here still want to take the hard line approach.

He always does what? How many guys has he gotten on the cheap that have stuck and played a big role?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Hey man it's a gamble. You think it's supposed to be automatic when you pick up these guys? Woods actually was a decent player and I wouldn't have minded if we kept him. Butler got the attention of SA, now whether he pans out or not they felt strongly enough to go get him. Honestly, I really don't know why you even bother anymore. Why do you even care what this team does. NOTHING that happens ever get's even a small positive remark from you. It's all bad and there's nothing anyone can do that will change your mind.

The thing you can't bring yourself to admit is that this was a shrewd move and Isiah should get a little credit for thinking outside the box.

This is one of those things that just make you go huh? Isiah has found some good young players for cheap - Butler, Woods, now Morris...even Demarr wasn't a bad signing. So why do we live with multiple years of guys like Vin Baker and Big Game?

Where exactly does this major project fit?

That is my main question. Now if we were able to package Frye and say the 22 pick for like the 13th pick, or something in the lower lotto range and we grab someone like Jeff Green or Corey Brewer.

Joe, I agree with you about getting Green, but theres no chance he'll be available at 13. The guy is putting a hell of a postseason together, I thin he's worked himself into the top8 of the lotto now.

He's basically Jamaal Magloire.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

This is the year of the small fwd. Lots of nice players coming out this year. Isiah should pick up one unless someone drops that shouldn't.

LOL, you say that like oh no big deal. Magloire is a former all-star. A guy that NY tried to acquire on his draft nite. Injuries is what slowed down Magloire. He is still capable of putting up nice games just ask Curry.

Just a point of correction-according to the Times-he would be eligible for the playoffs.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what does that 2-ear contract imply ? Does it end at the end of next season, or one more year after that ? Will he be a restricted or unrestricted FA then ?

Thanks for clarifying that

i knew this... anyone as a FA is eligible for the playoffs if they have NOT played with another team this season. if they have played for another squad, the deadline to switch teams, by trade or waiving, was march 1

UNrestricted. we should have signed him for 3 years so he'd be a restricted FA. Only bad part about this. if we signed him for 3 years, then we'd also have his bird rights... and if we got his bird rights, we'd be able to match any offer. Now, since we signed him for 2 years, if he blows up, and we are over the cap, we can not sign him for more than the MLE. This is kinda what happenned with Gil Arenas, although the NBA was supposed to be changing that rule - can anyone update me if the rule has been adjusted?

Yeah, i remember it being adjusted, but not completely changed - should have signed him for 3 years - what's the difference? If he sucks, cut him and eat the $1 mill
