LOL. Dude you're funny. That was DESPERATE. You took 3/4 of ONE SEASON for Eddy Curry and compared it against CAREER averages for various centers, none of which were top centers. They were second-tier centers. That's just ridiculous. Nice try.

^^^ not really fair to compare players' career averages to eddy's best 2/3 of a season... can't really read the stats too well, but it looks like in their primes they were a good notch higher.

especially with defense stats don't tell the whole story...

and you left out E-city's assists, some of those guys put up pretty good numbers there for a C.

Yes there are intangibles and those obivously cannot be measured. Unfortunately for the sake of arguments it is one tool to use for comparison. While all those players have a lot of defensive intangibles which I have already said in my previous posts that Eddy just does not have the nose for..he is a magnificent offensive player. His intangible is that teams this year has to worry about Eddy every night. I think with more work he can raise his rebounding totals to a respectable level, say 9 RPG. With his BPG, I don't think that will change.

NYKBocker, points aside, almost all of those centers you listed have better numbers at that point in their career. If your point is to show progress, I'm not following. I do think most of the centers you listed were second-tier centers... but that's semantics. The point is moreso, that, if anything, you've illustrated the point that Eddy is below the curve and overrated by the optimists. Furthermore, once again, you can't compare career averages vs. 3/4 of a player's best season. That's extremely unbalanced. How about compare Eddy vs. those guys in their seventh year in the NBA?

Yes there are intangibles and those obivously cannot be measured. Unfortunately for the sake of arguments it is one tool to use for comparison. While all those players have a lot of defensive intangibles which I have already said in my previous posts that Eddy just does not have the nose for..he is a magnificent offensive player. His intangible is that teams this year has to worry about Eddy every night. I think with more work he can raise his rebounding totals to a respectable level, say 9 RPG. With his BPG, I don't think that will change.
It's more than just intangibles. First, you have to take into account the player's role on his team. Those players were not the primary scorers on their teams. That wasn't their roles. (In fact, very few championship teams have given that role to a center. Usually defense is viewed as more important from the center.) Second, those stats don't even take defense into account. Sure, they take into account steals and blocks, which occur on maybe 5% of possessions, but that means they ignore 95% of the possessions on defense.
