Well what is your goal, jsut trying to fill the slot or trying to win games and take this team to the next level...Do you honestly believe that Lee plays enough defense for us to run with him at starting PF...Maybe you think defense isn't important..

my goal? you mean what would my goal be if i were coach/gm? something way different from what Isiah is doing, Its kind of too much to get into right now. anyway this franchise was never in the business of developing young players at the cost of wins so I don't know why you'd even expect isiah to start frye over lee even though lee is the better player right now because frye could be better in the future. and as for your last question, who cares? this team wasn't assembled to run.

Run in that context was not meant as a running team...Anyway you slice it we need defense up front..Without it the Knicks aren't taking that next step period...

Because, Because, Because they are young and still developing...They have not peaked yet...Why give another team a possible future all star when we can just wait to see how they develop...We are not in Championship contention are we...This is what rebuilding is like...Patients...

we're not rebuilding.

Of course we're rebuilding. That's why our *youngest* starter is a six year veteran!

At this point it just a matter of opinion...I think DJ started a thread asking the same question...

24 years old if I remember correctly..2 PF are 23 as well..I think the word core comes to mind when we talk about these guys..

oh my bad. I agree about us needing defense to take the next step, but it doesn't have to come now which is why I think lee should start. besides isiah can just start balkman at SF to balance it out.

and as for rebuilding. well if we are.. we're doing it in such a way so that the roster becomes younger but the knicks never take a step back as far as wins. I dont think such a revolutionary way of rebuilding would work. I've been wrong before though.

Problem if we start Lee and Balkman is the defense would collapse on Curry..

That it is completely wrong because they will never double with David man because that is an automatic offensive rebound. If you put Lee at the high post he is the only big man that gets the ball to Curry. Most of the time when curry catches the ball Lee is on the other block with a man all over him about rebounding.

he has some offensive skills. more so than jeffries or balkman. but he doesn't have a consistent j. which is weird because it looked like he was developing one last season.

Why does he need offensive skills? He scores more than any other PF and is much more efficient. If he took 5 jump shots a game and made 2 he would be scoring 15 points per game and still be over 50% from the field. Offensively Lee shoots 61% and plays his game and lets other people score.

If Sixth Man was good enough for John Freakin' Havlicek...

>>Power forward David Lee missed his first game of the season with flu-like symptoms, and the Knicks were sorely lacking his spark in the second unit. They saw their bench outscored 58-23 by the Sixers' reserves. It simply underscored Thomas' contention of just how valuable Lee - listed as doubtful tonight against Milwaukee - is off the bench.

"[We went] down the tubes. On that second unit he has a big impact on the game, a huge impact," Thomas said. "I didn't make this up. When I came into the league [Marc] Ivaroni was starting before Bobby Jones. Cedric Maxwell was starting before Kevin McHale. Some other teams have had success with it, and we're trying to do it here." <<

That's a sign of insanity. Maybe Marv or Bonnie can psychoanalyze you.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

and it aint like Lee wont get better - if there is one thing he has shown its that he can and will improve. I think Lee will develop into a heady defender (taking charges, using smarts) and a good mid range shooter. He improved his FT% so there is no reason why he cant improve his jumper

and one day, some coach will say "I didn't make this up. When I came into the league [Big Game] Jerome James was starting before David Lee."
