bippity - if you watched the NBA carefully, you would critique more than simply the won-loss record in November.

The season has barely started and you're already in crybaby mode

How do you know how much NBA I watch. I have the NBA package and a Tivo and haven't missed a game in nearly 3 years. I love breaking down game film and will watch a Knicks game 2 or 3 times analyzing every aspect in order to help improve my own coaching. I coach and have played all my life. I know improvement when I see improvement. I actually see improvement with this team. But we are still 6-11. And until this team wins games they won't get a positive assessment. It's tough playing for the Bip my friend. The Bip demands perfection. That's why the Bip wins year after year, because he's not like you. He doesn't settle. It is never to early to critique. Every player that has ever improved their game has improved their game because they critiqued themselves honestly and often times negatively. If you analyzed your own game more carefully you might know that as well. Thankfully most fans aren't like you and are getting on the powers that be to make changes, otherwise we would never see improvements. You should be applauding me, not disagreeing with me.

The Bip also wins because he doesn't do anything Isiah does....

If they are 6-11 and are doing this as a tight unit, imagine what happens when they get Marburied and he leads a revolt against Isiah.

Hit me back when it is okay to critique. I think Fish and I had come up with Game 37 as a fair time to judge. Not sure if that is correct or not. YOur thoughts?

Thats not ok because there will still be excuses about how this team is coming together and that a couple baskets here and there and instead of the Knicks being 14-23 they could be 20-17. It all makes sense.

How did Curry get his 4th qtr points last night? Off Crawford's penetration, off Marbury's penetration and once off Francis' penetration. How many times during that stretch was Curry fed in the post for him to make his own shot? Once? If that... he's good in motion.

the coach doesn't credit for that?

also, I said this and it got buried, but I was screaming for LB to make a rotation, to create roles and Isiah has for the most part done that. he has put some oddball lineups out there, but it's usually a mixture of the same nine guys. everyone knows their role (Marbury is slowing learning his, but we know he's dumb). it's making a difference.

use of the zone, another thing Brown never did that is paying dividends in spots - you can't use it all the time or teams will figure it out, but you use it to quell a run or start a run of your own.

benching guys for a reason, instead of haphazardly, not discussing it in the media, not making an issue out of it but letting the reasons speak for themselves on the court.

Jermaine O'neal credits Isiah with teaching him how to play in the league after his four frustrating/promising years in Portland. He may well be doing the same thing with Curry. how many times did we see Curry play 35mpg last year? he's done that four games in a row and is averaging over 30mpg on the season.

compare this to the first 17 games of last year, when we were spiraling downward. this year, things seem to be falling into place. when they play well, it's not a fluke of Craw going off for 37pts now, it's following the system - get the ball to Eddy, share the ball, let Lee and Balkman hammer the boards, Jamal/Francis/Marbury take turns scoring/distributing. it makes sense. if Marbury was playing better and the team was comfortable at home, we'd probably be around .500 after a tough month.

best road record in the East. we have 5 road wins after November, we didn't get our 5th until March last year.

Allow me to quote the great majorleads, written in the offseason, but it still applies:

Don't be fooled. This is the time of year when the nut riders shine. It's the time for optimism in the nut rider community. Even Starbury1 has a smile on his face. October is their championship month. They have dreams of glory and a parade down Broadway. However, deep down they know that the cold autumn wind is fast approaching and November-April will be their offseason once again.

Every October the nut riders have Stiffbury winning the MVP, Isiah as GM of the year (offseason) and eternal sunshine beaming from MSG.

October is their championship month...

I'm positive these are positives:

Knicks shoot 52 per cent as a team

Renaldo Balkman getting in Bron's face

Quentin Richardson finally over Brandy

Isiah not dissing Nate for being uber-Nate like "you know who" (mister "highlight reel" last season... but letting him know he messed up with respect

Steve Francis with 7 assists

That lazy, fat turd acquired for wasted high draft picks and all stars that cost the Knicks WAY too much... Eddy Curry, with five straight solid games

David Lee not turning the ball over six times

There is only 1 solid thing about Curry, and that is his overstuffed skin.

Solid? I don't mind being optimistic and looking that the good points but the Knicks did go 2-3 in that stretch. And Curry shot 50% from FT line and had 1 block, 1 steal and 3 assists. Dude averaged just over 7 rebounds. Solid Average performance.

you left out the part where he averaged 21ppg on 59% shooting. I will take 21ppg 7.2rpg and 59% shooting from Curry. I'd like a few more rebounds, but DLee has been averaging 10ppg and 10rpg in that same time span and the Knicks have been outrebounding their opponents, so I'm not sure what more people want.

I'll take those #s from him any day.

I sort of don't buy the whole "He's only 23 excuse"

See: Dwight Howard

That being said. Let's be hopeful that he can rebound and defend some more
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

December will be the test. It's a very favorable schedule compared to Nov. Last year we only won 2 games in Dec. after starting with the same record we have now at 6-11.
The difference is that now we CAN win on the road, but we have to conquer the home court. I feel confident that this team will win more than 2 games this month, which is all we won last year. December is HUGE for this team. I only wish that we were fully healthy, but in any case this team has a chance to really pick up some wins in this month.

God, I hope they can win more than 2 games in this month. I mean geez, hoping they win 2 games this whole month is setting the bar pretty damn high.

watching the games, do you really think they'll only win two games? I have a feeling they'll be at or around .500 by the end of the month.

There are 16 games in December, any team should be able to win atleast 5 of 16 games. If the Knicks want to be a serious contender this year, winning anything less then 10 games is a bad month.

Personally, I think they will go 6-10 this month, putting their record at 12-21 by the time the calender changes to January.

9-7 in December barring injuries
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

If Isiah gets this group to .500 I will give him credit. If he gets them to .550 I will give him praise. He would have deserved it.

Only 6 wins? You sound like you're almost HOPING that they only win 6 games. You know you haven't had one positive observation to add in this whole thread? Have you not seen anything in the way of a positive sign going forward? Any improvements in individual or team play? Perhaps some coaching moves that isiah made that were worth noting? DAMN! Even if it was just to note that the team has at least shown more fight than they did last year at this point, that would be something to show you really care about this team succeeding. I don't think i'll EVER understand fans like you. It's easy to root for your team when they have everything going well, but with this team trying to establish itself you have to have some patience and understanding, some reasonable expectations for a team that has so many young players and guys who haven't been in a winning culture here. They have to generate that all from scratch.

The schedule turns much more in their favor as the month goes along. I think they have a good shot to get on a positive swing.
Has Isiah the coach done anything positive?
