I think alot of people on this forum really take to heart Nash winning the MVP because he did it right after Marbury left. Just my opinion.

That maybe part of it but you have to admit he does not measure up statistically to other past MVP winners. I don't think a 15/11 player has ever gotten the award before. He's also possibly the weakest defensive player ever to get the award. I think there's much more legitimate criticism than simply a liking of Marbury.

I think what Solace said before carries alot of weight. When Nash went down, the Suns also went down and couldn't win games without him, he comes back and immediately they are winning games again. I think this is a true sign of a MVP player, not the player that scores 30points a game because he's allowed to jackup enough shots to score 30points a game.

It's a sign that he's valuable, no doubt. But is that enough to indicate that he is the MOST valuable player in the league?

I suppose its a valid question, I really don't have any problems with him getting the award but I also wouldnt have had any problems not giving him the award. I think Duncan or Shaq should win the award every year becuase there are no more valuable players than those two.

If Nash was really the MVP he would have a $15 shoeline like Marbs. People just hate on Marbs and dont wnat to admit he is the MVP of the league
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

Once Marbs wins his 3rd NBA finals MVP like duncan people will start to realize what a winner he is and that he is the best player of all time outside of World B Free

Humble.... What an underated word.

When someone who has accomplished something can also be humble, that is when they are worthy of the utmost respect.

confidence is also to be respected, however a humble confidence is far more effective..... Not only in how you are viewed by your peers, but in winning.

You don't win MVP two years in a row for nothing.
you ar right. you win it for something. And in Nash's case, that something was a dramatic shift in the way the MVP votes were cast. Statistically, he doesn't hold a jockstrap to any of any of the previous MVPs ever, thats a fact.

You have a valid point stat wise. But given PHX record, the question is could PHX have done it without Nash?

This is the whole misconception about the MVP. It is not the best player award, but as you pointed out, it is an award for the guy most important to his team. Nash is that by FAR.

Now if you want something like a best player award, call it the "Most Outstanding Player" award and Nash wouldn't even be close in a situation like that.

Marbury deserves MVL. Most Valuable Loser. I think he's been the most statistically impressive player on losing teams for a number of seasons.

(only once was a player not on a 50+ win team)

only one in history? who was the outlier?

in any case, i mostly agree. i have more faith in MVP voting than all-star voting, at least.

Actually, that was supposed to say, only once in the last 30 years. The last time it happened was 1981-82, when Moses Malone and Houston finished 46-36. It's very rare; it last happened 25 years ago and like I said, only once in the last 30. Even more to the point, the last 17 MVP winners were on teams that won the division title. That's a telling sign. Kobe isn't going to get the MVP on a 7th seed team.

LeBron, Dirk or Chauncey Billups. Those are the guys you argue, if you don't think Nash deserves it.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
