Don't worry all the stars are in perfect alignment this year. You'll see. For one thing you have to understand how this coach and his system perfectly fit the players. This team makes sense from the standpoint of what Isiah's coaching philosophies are. This is why he should've been the coach starting last year.

The players Isiah' has on this team will work well in his offense, which is designed to make it difficult for teams to double your best players. If they do they pay a stiff penalty. WIth Frye, Jared, Lee, steph, Francis and Jamal we have the perfect players to run the UCLA shuffle/cut offense. Double high post, which we'll be able to exploit teams with. Frye's shooting and Jared's good passing are the perfect skills for that offense to work. Then using Steph and Francis to do what they do best and that is attack the basket. Then you have Curry who will make a good pivot for the Triangle offense. Having Jared out there will help Curry since i'm sure he's not used to making passes back out and Jared makes a nice big target and he'll know what to do with the ball, whether its swing it to the weakside or repost. If you look at the team thru Isiah's eyes it becomes much clearer how this team is going to succeed this year. Even from a defensive standpoint this team will have more options to throw at teams. We can go with a big lineup or a small quick lineup. There really isn't a team we shouldn't be able to match up with. This isn't a case of just blind faith. I have valid reasons for my optimisim.

Couple all of that with the fact that EVERYONE involved with the team has tons of motivation to make this work this year. I just don't see enough reasons to be pessimistic. There's overwhelming evidence that this time the team is on the right track.

Good one :)

But do you have an actual point regarding what I wrote? Are you a fan of the offense that Isiah wants to implement or not? Do you think these players fit his system much better than LB's? I think this is how things were supposed to be. Isiah should have coached the team last year. I'm glad he's doing it this year. I've always been a fan of the offenses he's going to use. With a simpler defensive scheme and more man to man, I think we'll be better on both ends, tho MUCH better offensively, where our strength lies.

the offense is being implemented specifically BECAUSE of the players acquired by the GM who happens to be the Coach.

Riley did it in Miami. Phoenix is doing something similar.

nobody knows what offense would work well with which players than the GM that acquired them.

Instantly he will make sense of every move before the all star break.

It's going to be an extremely interesting season to say the least.

I can't wait.

Do I have a point? Just sarcastic pictoral to your undying faith. Thats not a put down.

I respect your positive enthusiasm despite my cautious pesimestic approach. like a jilted lover, I have been too hurt an scarred over the oh so many years of Knickdom.

My anus is scarred like a young boy confined to a turkish prison from the Starphuching this team has done since the 1970's.

What people don't understand about LB and guys like LB. You don't hire them to create the best system for your current players. YOu hire them to change the culture and turn around your franchise. We instead hired him and wondered why he wasn't focusing on the short run and designing offenses for our "stars". Competing philosophies equals poor hires. I can't beleive fans are still wondering why LB wasn't changing his style of offense for us.

LB never would have changed his style, but he could have eeked out a few more wins.

He was a bad hire. plain and simple.

The reasons why are endless as are who to blame for last years debacle.

however, he had to be hired because if not, the city would have turned ugly.

rvhoss - That's a good point. If IT had not hired LB, he would have been crucified in the media and by the fans. Everyone would have said that he did not have the Knicks best interest at heart b/c he was not willing to share power.

I agree with both of you guys(the game and rvhoss). That's the unfortunate thing about coaching and GMing in NY. They can't make moves to fit into a plan. They have to make quick headline grabbing moves in order to buy themselves enough time in order to then make a move that gets them back on plan. Then when things get hairy they make another name splashing move to buy time(normally gets us off track-see Stevie, jalen, Mark Jackson, TT) and then try to get on track again. This is what Bip has been preaching for about 6 years now and it's finally become so obvious that it's undeniable.

That's the thing that scares me the most about this year. LB was going to be a process. Despite all the well wishers and the kool aid drinkers that thought he'd turn us into instant winners he wasn't going to. It was going to take 3 or 4 years to change the atmosphere here. One of win now to developing a champion. This is the same route Isiah should take. Judging by the young guys he knows this. But he also knows that his job is on the line and that the win now mentality is still there. So instead of making him coach and getting a GM to help him build a team in his vision we are here to sit back and pray that he gets off to a good start so that he isn't fired as coach and then we have a new batch of guys making name grabbing moves to create buzz. The start of this season will go along way in determining the fate of this franchise for years to come. Don't be fooled. If we get off to a poor start, and Isiah's job is on the line he could give to rat's asse about the future of the Knicks. He is going to make a move to save his job.

Change the atmosphere here and we will see a title. Keep the same atmosphere and we will see the same thing year after year. We will be wondering 5 years from now why we always seem to have the dumbest GM and the worst coach in the league. The reality is we don't, we just have the worst atmosphere.

Not always the organization can be turned around gradually.
Sometimes the bankruptcy is the better and may be only way out of the misery.
If IT will fail the next season and this is very likely the whole thing will be dismantled.
We will have GM/Couch and other bureaucracy gone, main players contracts traded/waived and Rangers-like rebuilding.
As dumb as Dolan is he has the fresh Rangers example on hand and he will use it because it worked.
It will be uglier with bball that hockey but it is no other way to go.
Every End is just new Beginning. And better reach this end faster and stop the agony. Thanks to LB we are closed to this and I hope IT/Marbs/Francis/Other-like will finish the job next season.
Please not take wrong - this is not a pessimistic view. This is the only way how optimism can come into the picture.
