chant: "Kill List.. Kill List... Kill List...."

the Knicks backcourt is kinda crowded with the probability of Quentin sliding back to off guard.

Here is where the fun starts... provided Isiah is done dealiing.. which I don't think he is...

what is the best Knicks guards combination?\

I'll go on a limb and state for the record.... (drum roll please)

bip - so what you are saying is that you reserve the right to second-guess moves without putting your opinion on the line in advance?

just chillin' dude

It's only basketball

Earl I guess I don't know what the question is. If you ask me what I would do with the roster. I wouldn't have 90% of the guys on here. I never would have targeted them. I don't like Marbs, Stevie, Curry, Mo, JJ. I don't like these guys, but they are good players. I guess I don't know what your question is.

What am I supposed to say. What moves am I trying to side step. Am I saying which players will fail next year? Is that your question? Am I trying to guess who Isiah will get rid of? What I told you so is related to this conversation? What am I trying to avoid? Maybe you should be clearer on the question.

I told you what I think the plan should be from here. I told you what players I like on the roster and who I don't. I am different from you in that I can hate a player and still have him on my team. I can love a player and still think he should be traded. Maybe you should clarify. What is this list that I should be making and what is the purpose of the list? And once again what am I trying to avoid? What is my fear? That I will say we should get rid of Stevie and then he has a great year? I guess I dont' get it.

The point being, everyone has a fantasy deal that they would make in a perfect, non-competitive, 'dreck for talent' universe....

... but how many are willing to "man-up" for the players they would keep and stick by them through thick and thinner?

bip - just for the record. I appreciate your effort.

Effort wins ballgames

No, you hae a fantasy deal because you think it's cool and fun. Not everyone lives in your world. Are you asking me what players I like as players. I don't get it. Okay I like Lee and Frye and Nate and Jamal. Those are my favorites. I dont' know Balkman or Mardy because I've never seen them play. Don't have an opinion on them or how they fit. I don't really care about anyone else on the roster. But what does my personal feelings about the players have to do with the original question of what do we do to build the Knicks.

If the question is who do you think will hurt us with their attitudes? I will say probably Mo, Jalen, Stevie and Marbs. But that depends on how they are used by Isiah. My opinion will be stronger when I see the rotation. Until then it's just speculation.

I guess I just don't understand the purpose of the "who do you keep, who do you get rid of" question. Is it who do I like and who do I wish was on another team? Who do I think is the best at each position? What would my rotation be? I'm not being a wise ass I just don't understand the question.

Maybe at my advanced age I finally don't fit in with what the kids are talkign about. I'll try.

Let's keep Frye because he's gonna be the greatest. And Lee that boy will dunk on you. And JJ2, gonna lock you up. Can't mess with Curry or he'll sit on your fat ass. Marbs is going to break some ankles. Franchise, watch out sucker. Nate, nobody in the league can stay with him. JJ if he gets in shape the world is in trouble. Balkman and Mardy the young guns waitin their turn and ready to take over.

Jalen he sucks and Malik he sucks and Mo he sucks. Q is old and can't shoot.

Don't sleep on the Knicks baby. Isiah lead us to the promiseland. go Knicks. 2nd round baby!!!!

It's your world squirrel, I'm just livin' in it... tryin' to get a nut"

The purpose of the "who do you keep" question is to go on record BEFORE Isiah pulls the trigger again. Just for kicks and giggles.

You KNOW another deal is in the works as we speak, right?

Anyone can state the obvious and jump on the "dump Mo Taylor", "dump Ime Udoka"... or "Jerome James is a fat turd" bandwagon...

who are you willing to stand WITH?

Then you can compare notes ... and even (cough) basketball IQs.

Okay Mr. Earl this is an actual question that will illicit an actual opinion. It took a while to get to this point but we are here. This is a lot easier to have an opinion on than a vague question like who would you keep and who would you get rid of. Anyone on this site that thinks I'm not opinionated and afraid to speak my mind, either doesn't know me, or is just weird.

To me the most productive combination will be Jamal and Nate. I think they will bring it regardless of the competition and situation around them and will do whatever Isiah asks of them. If Mardy is as good a defender as they say then the Jamal and Mardy combo is a great one. But again I've never seen mardy play so I'm not going to raise an opinion based on scouting reports and hope.

I think the Steph and Francis combo has the potential to be one of the most dynamic offensive PG in the league. Also the least productive. Oh my god, why did I sya that. What if they prove me wrong. Oh god, I take that back. Steph and Stevie forever.

again Earl you just asked me two questions. One who do I think Isiah will deal next. I think Q or Stevie. That's who I would personally target to improve the Knicks.

If the question is who would I personally keep it would be the frontcourt. The rest of the players would be gone.

Okay so lee, Curry, Frye and Jeffries. If I have to keep a backcourt player I would keep Q and Jamal. The rest can go

So keep
Lee, Curry, Frye and Jeffries, Q, Jamal
Kill

Everyone else

So what do I win? How do I win? What's the point? If Isiah trades anyone on my kill list do I get a point. Do I get to come on and say I told you so. And as I'm saying I told you so will you help me explain what the I told you so is about? If someone on the Kill list has an MVP season does that mean I got "burned" and should have kept my kill list to myself to avoid this pain? I don't get it. I must have a very low "fantasy list making IQ"

See bip, that wasn't so hard now was it?

I appreciuate you hanging in there and battling through whateber symantics that make our online discussion problemmatic.

Stevie and Steph huh?

The guard competition WILL be the most compelling controversy of training camp, that is unless Isiah gets an itchy trigger finger.

I like Jamal and Nate as the Starbucks Connection.

Does that make Quentin or Jalen Rose odd man out?

Now I'm confused.

Okay bip, I can get with your six prime choices to stay Knicks.

We need a backup center and another guard to make eight.

I still dont' even know if I answered the question and what the point of the kill list was, but I'm glad we can get past that. I think if Isiah trades anyone from my kill list I win a free months of postings. Not sure though. Anyway, tell me if I win. Send me an e-mail to tell me where I can pick up my prize.

Of course the backcourt is going to be interesting. There are so many side stories. Who will start? Who will back up? Where will the minutes come from? Will someone be on IR? How will they respond to decreased playing time? Will this competition raise the efforts, cause on court competition or lead to sniping whining and team destroying? Will mardy develop sitting on the bench? Should we let him learn in practice? Should we give him time because he's a rookie? Will Isiah play favorites? Will he shun and ostracize anyone that speaks out? Will he keep the team together even if guys snipe? Lots of question marks that remain that way until the season starts.

I personally think Isiah will start with marbs, Francis and Craw. He's committed to Marbs/francis and Craw earned the time last year. Nate will be there to take over should someone falter. I think Q is in bad shape for supporting LB. Not fact but just speculation. But to me the most important thing is how players will handle the decreased minutes. Will they shine or will they cry. I raised this question before. Never answered it myself. Just raised a valid question. I was called a pessimist. Now we are back to me being confused.

bip - What if we added 6'10 Paul Miller and 6'6 Mardy Collins to your six?

Colins is an unknown but he DID attend Temple under Mister Intensity John Chaney. Paul Miller has outside big-man range reminiscent of Michael Doleac.

I know they both are a reach but...

Again I know in the fantasy world we have opinions on people we've never seen, but in the world of the nuts we don't. I don't give a rats arse who Mardy played college for. Until I see him play I can't say whether he belongs or not. There are plenty of guys who played for coach K and Jim Calhoun(the best college coach's IMO) and I wouldn't touch them.

Martin - do you trust the storyline that Larry Brown actively campaigned to acquire Steve Francis and Jalen Rose?

I don't know. I think it's plausible. Who knows. I wasn't there so I don't know.

Did you have your TV on at the press conference when Larry said he bugged Isiah to get Steve?

I guess I've never had a conversation as weird as this before so it's hard for me to adjust. Okay my rotation would be

SF-Jeffries
PF-Frye
C-Curry
PG-Marbs
SG-Jamal

Bench-Lee, Q, Nate and I guess JJ. I don't really like that bench. The first three are talented but still lacking defense and ball movement. Isiah will have to be creative with the mix and matching.

Mo T is solid and would probably find his way on my court. Malik is the same for spot minutes. Jalen is redundant and would find his way on for certain matchups. I feel like I'm missing some people. can't think right now. Trying to figure out what the god damn point of the who would you keep who would you get rid of question and why I needed to be afraid to answer it, has drained me to the core.

according to isiah's interviews, he views QRich and Jrose as Small Forwards.

That's what he keeps saying and that's what I believe he is sticking to.

I think he prefers to keep all of his prized rooks.

One thing for sure, he's seen every knick home game his entire tenure here from just behind the bench in his little corridor, so he's well versed on what the knicks can and can't do.

Jrose or Qrich will not be a knick before the season starts (not being a knick could mean being penny hardaway'd).

If he manages to trade francis and qrich for Kmart, then I would take that on the chin because it provides two key things for the knicks.

A PF we can bring along at his own pace because of his injury and the back court glut disappears before our eyes.
