TMS - have you considered that the exit interviews, (which none of us have access to) may have carried more influence than the anti-Christ Marbury?

Could the rumors and political intrigue from 2 Penn Plaza be too much ado over something a writer thought he heard?

If Brown is attending workouts this will either blow over

or result in the messiest divorce in NBA history

I think Marbury was one of the only few players who didn't have a problem sitting down with both Thomas and Brown. I think Malik was the other.

oh yeah... that's right before he issued that "he made me a better man" comment, after an entire season during which he did nothing but undermine his coach's authority by not running plays that he called from the bench & participating (WITH LB - have to throw that one in there for some of you i know) in that ridiculous battle of words in the media... haven't you guys learned anything at all from watching this guy throughout his career? he's a man of empty words & empty promises... he talks a big game but doesn't back it up... this guy fooled me once when he first came here, but now I know this is just who he is... another fugazy as fas as I'm concerned... we shoulda shipped his butt outta town right along w/Tiny Tim.

Just for you guide...Every player on every team in every game break off plays that are called based on game situations...If you are saying that you know Marbs did it intentionally to piss the coach off, well you are a better man than me...

please spare me the hoops lesson Jerry West... ignoring plays called from the bench & breaking off plays depending on the defense that the other team sets are 2 completely different things... how many times this year did we see LB screaming from the bench to set up the halfcourt only to see Marbury take it upon himself to drive to the hole & get his shot stuffed over & over again looking to draw a foul?

This was from the 8th game of the season:

Worse yet, it appears Marbury refused to follow the game plan devised by Brown in the Los Angeles game. Brown revealed that Marbury was told to run the same play after each Lakers miss. The play calls for him to get the ball on a side pick-and-roll. But Brown says that Marbury failed to run the play even once.

This was from later in the season:

As a drained and weary Larry Brown walked to his postgame news conference Friday night, he was heard to mutter, "Four straight plays. Four in a row."

Brown was referring to four straight botched possessions late in his team's latest stunning defeat, a 108-101 loss to the Bulls at the Garden in which the Knicks led by 16 in the third quarter.

It was the sixth loss in a row and 22nd in 24 games for the Knicks, maintaining their standing as the NBA's worst team.

With the Knicks clinging to a two-point lead with less than two minutes left, Brown put the game in the hands of his two-headed point guard, Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis. Francis hit an 18-footer with 1:33 left to make it 101-97, and the Garden awaited victory.

Except the Knicks didn't score again, missing their last five shots. They turned the ball over twice and gave up 11 straight points to the charging Bulls.

Marbury and Francis apparently decided to win the game themselves by not running the plays Brown called. Instead, the Knicks collapsed under the weight of their own ineptitude and Brown fumed at the lack of basketball IQ from his $125-million (and 15-43) bunch.

"We had four straight possessions," Brown said. "We called something and never got into any of them. Never got into any of the plays we were calling. We had crucial turnovers. We had a three-second , a missed dunk, turned the ball over, a charge. We gave them six straight free throws and had three possessions where we didn't get a shot up."

Said Quentin Richardson, "Miscommunications, not running the plays we needed to run. We gave it to them."

I don't remeber the plays but yeah, the turnover, the charge, the miss dunk, the three second call, I'm sure they were all Marbury's fault...

Aw, poor Brown. Now he gets to feel what its like to be a Knick fan after a 23 win season that he was largely responsible for orchestrating.

i agree. to me, he had the players and fans twisting in the wind all season long. hope he likes his own medicine.
