So is Layden still the one holding up the Fortson deal? I think he needs to do it soon and that way he will have enough time to make something else happen, which is hopefully getting Van Exel or Stoudamire. With Fortson and McDyess starting i don't think we need a center. Those guys are tough enough to handle the positions, especially in the east.

In a word: yes. But it's not gonna happen.

How about Thomas, Ward and Spree for Kandi and Odom? This senerio seems to work for both teams. Spree would make up for Kandi's salery and Odom is from the crib!!!Lamor is a better point (forward) than ward or Eisley. The clips have to many forwards.

You can never have too much depth in the West. If they wanted to trade Kandi, they could get some more enticing packages from teams like Seattle (Rashard Lewis or Desmond Mason), Chicago (plenty of young talent). There's no reason for them to accept the Knicks offer, unless the Knicks trade McDyess which can't happen...let's not get into it. It will NOT happen.

To bad we don't have what the Clippers won't so that we could trade for Lamar Odom. I heard him say just last week on a radio show that he would LOVE to play for the Knicks. He wishes they could trade for him. We are never in the right position at the right time. Does anyone know when he'll be a free agent? Will he be restricted?
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

This isn't an official rumor or anything but i have heard people talk about a potential deal between the Knicks and Cavs that would involve Ward and Mihm and maybe Murray, but don't quote me on this one. Apparently the Fortson deal is dead so we might as well move onto other possible deals. I think Mihm would help a lot. It would be another deal to open up things for a Thomas for a point guard trade.

Yeah, I want Odom as well...What do the Clips need more than anything else? Is there a way to 3-way it? Wishful thinking. It would be nice to have a home-grown star.

I'm just praying that Corey Maggette has a breakout year for them. That way, if the Knicks offered the majority (or all) of the exception to Odom, they wouldn't match since they'd have Maggette waiting in the wings and also have too many contracts to sign.

Plus, they'll have to lock up Andre Miller, Elton Brand, Michael Olowokandi, and Quentin Richardson, so I can't see them wanting to shell out a lot for Odom if they have Maggette.

That'd be a dream come true with the Knicks, Odom is a phenomenal player who has the tools to become the next Magic Johnson. All he has to do is put it together...and lay off the reefer.

Maggette is a star but he gets no run. He is every bit as good as Paul Pierce. Yeah, I said it. Give him 35+ min a game and he will amaze you.

I agree (not to the extent of Pierce, not that quickly though), but if he played he'd do some damage, which would be great since they might just let Odom go all together (or not make an attempt to re-sign him).

Falcindor: with all due respect you are crazy to think Magetti is a star... then you say he is as good as Pierce....MY god, when will the lunacy stop....

He has all the skills of Pierce If Pierce bulked up and kept the same weight he would be even better.

Pierce is what I call "scoring made look easy" he has a smooth qucik first step, a deadly jumper, and long strides, magetti offensively is no where near, he isn't a good shooter, can't post, and doesn't have the offensive arsenal that pierce does, magetti may be a nice situational player, could be a decent starter, but no where near a pierce..

I remember some coach...probably on the Clippers stating that he had one of the lowest basketball IQs he had ever come accross....there is no way he is anywhere near the level of Paul Pierce.

paul pierce is a great scorer, but his BBall IQ reputation took a HUGE hit at the Worlds when his defenisive problems shone through and his streakyness didn't work out to his advantage, and when he couldn't get open on specific end game plays designed for HIM.

last year i wrote an article on Paul Pierce and that his bball IQ is low... not at all on the same level bball iq wise as a Kobe or a McGrady. Those guys are downright defensive stoppers and usually can get open or make something happen on final plays, at least Kobe can - i remember McGrady getting shut down by Cambyman down the stretch...
