Earl, I would just have one request of you. It would be to quit saying this:

Or is it just another chain letter forwarded by the press and gobbled up by gullible fans?

Reason - everyone on this board pours thier heart nad soul into this team. There are terrific variances in opinions and reactions, which is great and makes it interesting. But people are opening their souls here, they're not parroting the press. I think we should all leave the press to the side, they're doing their own thing and it's reallyi not relevant to our discussions here.

Just my 2 cents, my good man.

The thing is, it doesn't make any sense to do a salary dump until next year's deadline because with all our "archived" salaries (Houston, Knight, Anderson, etc), we wouldn't be able to get under the cap to make a play for a free agent anyway. There was really no way for him to "blow the team up" until Houston's contract expired (along with all the others). That's why the trade for Rose doesn't bother me too much. He can help us a little bit now and his contract is done after next year also.

I think it's important to maintain that dividing line next year. I wouldn't take any big contracts on that extend past next summer. No K-Mart, No Franchise, No Ratliff. Continue playing the kids along with veterans (they'll learn quicker that way as opposed to a total young team ala Charlotte), and make a plan to start being financially responsible next summer.

Plus I think almost everyone here (even Bonn) knows more about this team then the press. We happen to know for a fact that several writers visit these forums for ideas and scoops. Screw the press. UK members are not the common fan. Marv said it best... most here write what the see, not what other's see.

I also had high hopes for IT, but like fish, I am becomming frustrated. With layden, we had guys who at least played hard and played for each other. guys like KVH, Doleac, frank Williams, eisley, Houston, were all team players, High IQ guys, not great, but hell they gave effort, not fancy, but they did their jobs, they just were not good enough. I mean would we really be that bad had we added a guy like amare Stoudamire, and a guard like Josh Howard, had layden not felt the constant heat from the NY media and fans to win now? I don't know. Yes we are younger and more athletic, and those guys are riding the bench, are we better than we were when layden was here? I don't necessarily agree....

All right, I'll admit something, I went off on a fantasy trip last night along the same lines. What if we had drafted Amare? Put him on the frontline with Camby. KT backing them up. Spree would have been rejuvenated to have Amare running the floor with him. The inside game would have benefitted AH even more. Ward could have played great with a guy like that. Aww, whatever.

yea, that bothers me the most, I will say this, guys like KVH, Houston, frank williams, even fat spoon, Kt all played with everything they had, they were just not good enough to win 45 games, but all I can think about now is that we had 2or 3 drafts since then, and what could have been. People laugh at Doleac, but the guy was a smart player, and most of all, he played like he gave a damn!!

Well guys, Eisley is currently a free agent. Would he be a good backup PG? better than Watson? Is that bridge burned?

hey, i got another one. what if we didn't trade nazr? you think that maybe his value would be a little higher right now? you think the nets would give us a higher pick than the one we got from the spurs for nazr right now?

$30 mil for jerome james.

$3 mil for a late #1 or high #2 - still would've had lee.

patience patience patience. of which this team has NONE.

therefore making, us, the fans, even more impatient having to put up with this nonsense year in and year out.

djsunyc - you know I have a lot of respect for your opinion because you are an investor, you actually drop cash money on your seats. How long have you been a ticket holder?

i had mini-plans throughout the 90's and became a full season ticket holder 3 years ago.

and i'm guilty of perpetuating it. my love for the team (plus not having wife and kids is a bonus) is why i keep buying tickets. i'm a sucker. even if they are pitiful, i'd probably still buy tickets b/c i'm the fan they love. a guy that will stick through thick and thin, while they continue to do whatever they want. they need to really up their relationship with season ticket holders, especially ones that have been around for at least 5+ years b/c we've had to put up with so much.

i wasn't around in the 80's but i'm thinking it was just as bad. man, if it wasn't for ewing, we're looking at almost 33 years of ineptitude.

hey DJ, what are the additional things that MSG & Co do for season ticket holders? I'm curious about that. I know the Q&A sessions, but what else?

last year the first time they had the q&a's. one time in june and once more in the summer. they have some season ticketholder q&a phone conferences with players. but haven't had on in a while. they may mail you a nice letter or a little gift here and there but i'll put it to you this way, they had former season ticket holders over in a luxury suite for one night to try to get them back. i'm still paying RIGHT NOW, why can't i get some luxury suite love?

i'm not sure what they can do but they don't really provide access to alot of their players, in terms of q&a or pregame functions or stuff like that which i think everyone would enjoy.

of course, this is all i'm privy to but i sit in section 404. section's 200, 100 may get more love as they shell out the big bucks.

Thats just the thing. It is that deep. 4 years? How long do you have to be in an abusive relationship before you leave? What were the worst things Layden did? I dont remember's Layden's teams losing by 20 at home every night.

If Isiah is good and Layden is bad why are losing more under Isiah? He's assembled a veteran line up that is very expensive. He's hired 2 hall of fame coaches. He's traded future draft picks to assemble this group. Yet they lose more. A LOT more.

What is it you like so much about Isiah that makes these simple facts so hard to digest? I could care less about the man. I just want a GM to do a good job.

You don't remember the MLK day massacre where the Hornets beat us by 45+? I remember lots of crap games. The season before we made the Dyess move we were 20-40 and getting blown out left and right.

The difference between that team and this team: that team was vets, this team is kids that gets down on themselves. Of course, now with Rose, Brown is saying the kids will sit, but when we lost 10 of 11 before that, Curry, Craw, Lee, Frye, Nate, Qyntel, even Jackie were getting the majority of the minutes. It's a learning process. You can't demand young players and then get antsy when they don't play like world beaters right away and demand new young players. You have to develop what you have and surround them with a few veterans who play hard and can lead them. Mo Taylor, Malik Rose, Jerome James and QRich are not going to do that. Q has actually been much better lately because of his effort on D, but those other "vets" are lumps. Jalen is at least a smart, competitive vet who actually has some skills left to facilitate the offense and score when the team is struggling. When Marbury comes back they will be that much better.

I'm sorry, but when I hear you guys complain there's no plan, I think it's ridiculous. There's clearly a plan. Is the plan working? No. But I think it needs more time, clearly Brown hasn't even figured out a lineup yet. I don't think it would have taken this long with a less stubborn coach, but that's what we've got.

Hindsight on trades is always 20/20. Nazr hasn't looked so hot in San Antonio. I like how you would undo the trade but still somehow magically acquire Lee.

I think it's funny to demand patience when you aren't really giving our young players and coach the same benefit of the doubt. Have we looked awful? Yes. Is it without our franchise player? Yes.

patience patience patience.
