What I don't understand is why everyone is so down with Sweets and down on Curry?

Sweets: 6-8, 275, 8.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 23 years old
Curry: 6-11, 285, 16.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, .9 blocks, 23 yrs old
and BOTH have defensive issues and if Curry has rebounding issues Sweets is not that much better..

Both have weight problems, one is legit sized center that can play almost 30 minutes a game the other is an undersized power forward who seems to huff and puff his way to 20 mins per. If we can get Curry without Sweets I would do, but I would be alot more willing to give up Sweets in a package for Curry than Q.

one important stat you left out:

sweets: 20 mins
curry: 29 mins

and the offense flowed through curry.

No I didn't leave it out I put it down...so Sweets will rebound a little more, but he will not double his scoring average. And if I remember correctly, Sweets had every opportunity to play more minutes if he was physically able to, which it seems he wasn't as it looks like he gained weight near the end of the season.

joe, i don't have any arguments with your reasoning, to me it's still a judgement call however. you watch these 2 players and predict how you think ther careers are going to develop. If you go with Curry, you're predicting he'll continue to develop his scoring and gradually add more D and boards. If you go with Sweets, you predict he'll improve his conditioning, become more assertive with his scoring and cut down on stupid fouls.

Granted i've watched a lot more of Sweets than Curry, but when I see Sweets dominate the offensive boards, show a crazy knack for turning everything down low into points or FT's and move bigger bodies out of the paint, I want to continue to develop the guy. When I've watched Curry I see a guy who will have a spell of great low-post scoring for a certain span of a game, and then disappear on both ends. That's why I compared him to TT. And that's why in my judgement call, i still see better things down the road from Sweets than Curry.

Marv...those a great points and basically that's all it boils down to. I would rather have a center with a large upside than a small bit double wide PF. You are absolutely correct about Sweets and his low post game, BUT I don't see Sweets getting his conditioning under control. I mean, last year that was his ONLY responsibility and what did he do...came into camp looking more than decent, than as the season wore on he gained weight and couldn't play more than 20 per...I mean the starting PF job was literally handed to him.

Yeah i hear ya about Sweets. I would HATE to see him literally eat his way out of a promising career. That's a sad thought.

Thinking about Curry I will say this, I hope the guy gets it together wherever he plays. I think the lack of quality centers has really hurt the league. i think almost everyone had real high hopes for the crop of young centers that came into the league a few years back, and what a collosal disappointment they've been! now that Shaq's physically losing it, the center positions's being further downgraded. The converted PF's with super athletic games - Big Ben, Stoudemire, etc. - seem to be where it's going. The guys who LOOK like centers - Chandler, Kwame, etc. - can't get it together. Even looking at our own beloved Knick James Bitch shows for one playoff series that he actually knows how to play the center position the way that it's supposed to be done but somehow is unable to do it the other 95% of his games??? I mean WTF?????

I agree with all your points. If there were no concerns about Curry's heart, I'd trade Sweetney for him even though it would be hard to let Sweetney go.
