Actually, Larry Brown's last year in Indiana was a disaster: he was 39-43 and didn't make the playoffs after two fifty win seasons. Then he left town. Bird came in and did a terrific turnaround off Larry's failure. http://statsc.freeservers.com/nba/coa_indp.html
Bird went 58-24.
Do I think Larry Brown failed in Indiana? Well, he didn't make it to the Finals even once. The Knicks made the Finals after Jordan retired under Riley. And the Knicks should have beaten Jordan once to make the Finals once except for Charles Smith choking. Failed for Larry Brown is too strong, he had three good seasons. But he could have done more. That team had talent.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Fine, I guess we should have gotten Riley, or wate he is not a coach anymore.

Then we should have tried to get Phil, or wate, he chose the Lakers.

We got Brown and I say he the best at least because he is a Knick. Its hard as it is rooting for this team of misfeats and rejects with no heart, at least now we got guy who is way up there in talent as a coach, as far as I'm concerned he is the best!
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

When Phil jackson can take a team like the LA Clippers in mid season and get them from a losing team to a winning record and the playoffs, then i'll say that he is a better coach than Brown.

what a weak argument...many other coaches have come in mid season and turned a team around but are NO WAY on the same level as phil. NEXT

HOw many have done it with the CLIPPERS!?! Man do you reallize what that is like. In there entire history up til that point they had NEVER been to the playoffs. NEVER!!! and since then they went back once and that was with an awful 36-46 record and they got swept in the 1st rd. Before he came in the team had 12 straight losing seasons and had a losing record when he took over. He finished with a winning record of 45-37. Don't make it seem like this was just any old coaching job that Brown did cuz its not. The point is that Phil has never been in that situation and proven what he really is as a coach. LB has done it many times. What Phil is, is fortunate to have had the Best player maybe in the history of the game and then the most dominant player in the league along with one of the most talented. How many coaches have that kind of good fortune. Can Phil coach heck yeah, he's one of the best, but I can't give him as much credit when his players are as good as they have been.

No matter how good someone is, when they come to the Knicks, all of a sudden they are so overrated, so mediocre, whatever. Larry Brown will hopefully add enough positive text to his resume while here coaching the Knicks for there to be no debate about whether he deserves the props of a Riley and Jackson.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Chauncey Billups even says the Pistons were great before Brown got there. Says if he didn't get hurt they might have reached the Finals the year before. Does give credit for Brown improving his game though.http://www.detnews.com/2005/pistons/0508/12/D01-269705.htm

No doubt the Pistons were already very good and Carlysle, but you have to give credit to the guy who put them over the top for sure. IF Sheed wouldn't have had a brain lock on that Robert Horry 3, they'd probably be back 2 back champs.

You can't devalue LB's record. He's legit. All those different teams he's taken to the playoffs shows its not a fluke. Lets just hope he's saved his best for last.

great coaches do great things, and for larry brown to deliver a championship is such.... especially at this late stage of his career

you can't dispute his championship no matter what article you submit

You're right. He does have ONE. I guess that has always been my point. He is treated like he has a lot more than one.

I forgot, who did LB beat to get that title? Who was on the team he defeated and who was coaching the other team?

Hey, let's put together a list of who we could have had and then compare them to Larry...unless that's already been done and i missed it.

Let's compare Larry to all availible coaches.

Yep.

I was thinking maybe Butch Carter.

Hey, is Kurt Rambis still under contract for L.A?

Also, rumor has it that Dennis Rodman is trying to get back into the league...as a headcoach. I see a Detroit Bad Boy connection here. Huh guys? Could have been nice. Screw Brown!

We Want Dennis!!!!!
