We have a center now! We didn't have an experienced one before signing James. Lets wait and see if the Knicks can do wonders with him. If not, a real backup 7 ft C doesn't hurt.

It doesn't hurt? You're paying him for 5 seasons or until he's 35. Having old dead weight on your bench at $5M per isn't a good thing unless you buy into Isiah's claim that the salary cap is irrelevant.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Yeah, the cap is irrelevant.. until you want to go to a Knicks game and you realize you have to mortgage your house to do it. Then, to make matters worse, they put an inferior product on the floor. The draft and the signings were for one purpose... to appease the fans, try to make an exciting team. But an exciting team doesn't equal a winning team.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

So if the Knicks trade away picks they get criticized but if they acquire talented young players in the draft they're still criticized for just appeasing the fans? What exactly did you want them to do on draft night?

My koolaide is Nate is a blast to watch, Lee and reezy are crowd favorites! Frye will struggle a bit, but will prevail over time.

Bottom line, I will watch this team not for wins, but for this cast of youth to be Jellin'!

I cannot remember any other time the Knicks had such a young team. Guys who will develop into solid NBA players at the same time. I really want LB, not to win a ring (although I'd welcome it with open arms) but to teach these young eager guys how it;'s suppose to be done and also to teach discipline....something the Knicks haven't had in years and years.

We've been through this before. We all wanted and knew the Knicks needed high ceiling players. They went a very different route.

Why are these players not high ceiling? I've said that I would have preferred Bynum over Frye, but I think Frye could be a 15/7/2 center, which are borderline all-star reserve #s. That's a high enough ceiling. If you look at Nate's and Lee's athleticism and strength, I think they have reasonably high ceilings for late 1st rd picks as well and I bet they will be better than most players taken 3 or 4 picks above and below them. Not every draft pick has to get you the league MVP. I also think Q has all-star potential and will benefit greatly from working with Aguirre, who knows a thing or two about how a powerful SF can take advantage of his size.

IT think 1968! Walt, Cazzie, Bill were all first or second year. Debussure was 25 when he got here. Willis was 26-27 yrs old. Mike Reridan was also just drafted. Barnett was the Vet.

bad buisiness = bad teams. Our MLE goes to a 30 year old who has been VERY consistent in his NBA career. 5 points, 4 rebound in about 16 minutes.

Meanwhile 25 year old Swift goes for the MLE, and Rahim is about to. Donyell Marshall will probably as well. These are guys that will give their teams great prodduction for $5-$6mm a year.

JJ just isnt worth it. Its another contract we are now locked into for 3-4 years. We are a 30 win team. This isnt the final piece, and this isnt some great movable commodity that we can move at any time.

Look at the market being set, and look where the Knicks are in it

I agree I'd rather have Stro over JJ, but maybe Isiah tried to get him. Why on earth would Stro Swift come to NY for the MLE to be one of six PFs when he could be guaranteed starter's minutes alongside T-MAC and YAO in Houston?
I think Shareef got more than the MLE and thus is irrelevant to this discussion. You can correct me if I'm mistaken about his salary.
Donyell is a nice role player but he's old and slow. He's a classic tweener who cannot guard SFs or PFs. We don't need him. He's Kurt with worse defense and a better 3 point shot.

We know Isiah tried to get him, but I guess he was trying to work out a sign-n-trade because he knew using the MLE on another PF when nothing asures you of getting rid of two or three of them later isn't exactly right. He wanted Swift, but couldn't get him for a sign-n-trade, so he passed.

yep...it is a shame that people speculate in NYC...but then again, it wouldn't be the city if we didn't.

Swift met with zeke, that's pretty much all he can do.

all kool aid all the time.

HAHAHAHA! that has to be the most pitiful thing i've ever witnessed in all my time posting on internet forums...copying & pasting someone else's post & passing it off as your own...what a joke.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
