Nate looks like the lottery pick talent. I barely noticed frye, he got blocked taking a three I think and was just so-so on the D. He goes after rebounds with one hand and a guard came over his top for an offensive rebound. His rebounding technique including how to box looks like a freshmen in college. The one offensive post move he had he was fouled on, but it shouldve been offensive. Lee OK, looks like he will be smallish in the NBA. Frye has an awkwardness about him, not very fluid and seems to be a little lost out there. the only guy with nbA athletic ability and a pure position is Nate. He showed a nice ability to get into the middle with ease and found some slahers and shouldve had 2-3 more assists. When he gets to the nBA, he should look for that dish off more because the other team has to commit because he can finish up at the basket.

Hopefully we will see more out of Frye, but jerome Beasley made him look smallish and inferior

exactly what I was thinking. Marbury will be traded eventually to fill other drastic needs. LIKE A FRONTCOURT!

For those that didn't see it.....there was nothing to see.

Aside from Nate and Jerome Beasley.

Trevor Ariza looked like he didn't get better at all. He still has the same faults in his game. He didn't get stronger. His jumper looks a little better but not where he impacted on the game in anyway. That to me ruined my day.

Nate is good enough to trade Marbs in my opinion.....yeah I said it. Nate just needs to learn how to pass the ball. He was very effective scoring the ball. He could get inside anytime he wanted and his jumpshot is money.

Butler, Frye and Lee were good in spurts.....Frye looked good in the first quarter with his jumpshot and presence inside. Lee and Butler both made a few good moves inside. Nothing to call home about but it did show some signs if these kids can continue to get better.

its a shame that our 21st pick is better than our 8 pick because we tried to play it safe at 8 and passed up better high ceiling players to do so.

I think David lee can play some SF. I'll like to see him get some time there and see if he can guard perimeter players as well

I think David Lee looks like Kenyon Martin except he is not as athletic. David definately is similiar physically.

lee looked good at times, frye had a big rebound late, but frye, lee and nate all hig big FT's late.. trevor was a little dissapointing today, but nate is the real deal. The guy can flat out play.. completely outplayed orlando's PG's. And by the way, in all fairness Dwight Howard didn't look that great either...

At the end of the day it was a good draft. We got a big man and a guard. Who cares if Frye went 21 and Nate went 8th or vice versa. The fact is, they're both here. Someone who can play down low and also hit the outside shot and also someone like Nate who is cleary going to be a force to be reconed with. I can care less which one was taken higher.

good point.....

Nate is definately a lottery talent. Kid is amazing. If Isiah did fall back on his comments and traded Marbs I would feel very confident in giving Nate the reigns.

Even though Frye isn't much of a post threat the guy still runs the floor and shoots the ball well. He definately looks confused but in time he will get used to the pro game. Right now he is the opening day starter unless Isiah gets another big man before the season starts.

Yeah, and neither did Ariza, but we all know he won't look like this come time to play season style NBA ball. If Howard plays the way he played today during the regular season he'd have totally fallen off

Yall are overreacting. I watch the game. Nate was un defendable but you got to remember this is summer league. The game was real sloppy and the refs were inconsistent. Trevor Ariza hurt me today. He still cant dribble. I drove to the basket and threw up wild shots. I didnt see an improvement in his game. His handle is very suspect right now. Frye was good in the beginning but after he got his 5th foul, Aguirre took him out for a long time(even though you cant foul out).

I DVR's the game but I watched the first half and I tell you what, frye has ALWAYS compared his game to Rasheed Wallace and I can definately see the comparison. I don't think I have ever seen a Knick big man take such an efferotless three like Frye did in the first quarter. I will be completely happy with Frye being Rasheed minus the attitude. he has a VERY versatile game that seems to be the trademark of the better centers in the game today ( aside from Shaq and yao who are just physically superior) I see alot of a Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby with 3 point range, Dirk Nowitzki minus the passing....I think if we get out of the mindset of trying to pigeonhole this kid into a role of a physically dominating center, we will see we got a great OVERALL player.

Seriously, Briggs, Guns, I can see where you are coming from, but I think we got the player that will best suit our needs and the fact that we got a more stable pick than someone like Green (Major attitude issues as far as I am concerned, we are already stocked at that position so no developmental time..Bynum was far from a sure thing but we could spend 5 years developing him and end up witha 23 yr ol Oliver Miller). No big man other than Bogut was in this draft without MAJOR question marks and even Bogut can not be considered a sure thing.

I wouldn't look too into how well a guard does in a guard oriented summer league game especially when he's going to be stuck behind Marbury and Crawford though

Guns, I would take your comments more to heart but you also wanted the Knicks to take Splitter, desperately.

very early in the Knicks season and it didn't last much.

because after Geen light up the McD's allstar game and dunk contest it was pretty clear to me that besides Bogut he was the player we needed in order to improve the overall talent level of the team. Regardless of who is already on our roster. You can always trade guys for the right pieces with stars already in place. then we went on to inexplicably win meaningless and not only miss on Bogut but miss out on Green. Then it turned out Green was right there for us and we went the safe 39win route instead

OK guns, what if Green is the next DeShawn Stevenson? You just said a post before that you wanted Bynum, make up your mind.

Would everyone stop overreacing about two things:
a) summer league.
b) who we drafted.

Summer League --> This never tells anything. Qyntel Woods is a perennial (that is, until he had high stakes dog fighting matches at his house and got thrown out of the NBA) All-Star in Summer League, and its pretty routine that the players who do well in SL don't produce consistently. So would everyone please stop complaining about that. I can't remember one instance where Frye was set up in the post and was able to do his thing, Robinson dominated the game on the perimeter with his dribbling (not necessarily a bad thing). That shouldn't come as a shocker, b/c all SL games are dominated by guards. Dwight Howard was the best rookie in the NBA last year, and I would rather build my team around him than basically anyone else in the NBA save a few names (Wade, LBJ, Amare, etc), and he did nothing today. Should we proclaim Frye or Butler as the greatest post defender ever? No.

Who We Drafted --> Though Robinson looks like a bona-fide stud right now and Lee and Frye have both been marginal, can we give it AT LEAST ONE MONTH IN THE ACTUAL NBA before we start proclaiming Isiah to be an idiot again. Jesus, this is truly unbelievable, Frye plays a total of 40 summer league minutes and people are calling him a bust. Everyone relax.

Guns, I can give you a long list of names of players who "lit up the MCD's allstar game and dunk contest," starting with the aforementinoed DeShawn Stevenson, who was an outright disaster in the NBA.

Can't we stop living up to our reputation as fickle New Yorkers and just see how it plays out, for once?

What if Bynum is a total bust? What if Frye becomes a decent NBA player? What if Nate Robinson dunks Horace Grant and MJ? What if...

Its laughable that people on this board beg Isiah to rebuild and say they as NYers have the patience for it, and then there are 2 million responses to a Summer League game, which I bet myself and only 4-5 others watched, and the majority of the posts are about how we messed up the draft and should've gone a different direction.

What I like about frye is the versatility, and the way he can get up and down the floor, in the first half, he and nate ran a break, fry shot down the court for a easy dunk, those are the things we didn't have from any of our big men since camby left... Nate was just unbelievable, summer league or not....
