I think Toronto had the worst pick by far, but us picking Frye over the next Kobe/Tmac in Green and passing over Granger, who is an awesome talent, too just to fill a need, is pathetic.

Why are we filling needs? Are we competing for anything next year aside from a lottery selection? A team as bad as the Knicks should be picking the BPA and worrying about everythign else later.
agreed. We are still too far away to be worrying about needs. I hope I'm wrong

you're not wrong. take an unbaised look at our roster and compare it to other teams. We have no frontcourt presense, no perimeter defensive and our scorers all have flaws and aren't that good. I could live with a scorer of the calibur of kobe, mcgrady, pierce or cough Gerald Green.

The only hope I have right now is that 5-9 Nate Robinson carries us the way Wade carried the heat and that is a lot to hope for!

I don't think that's the right thing to hope for from him at all.

Accept what he brings to the table and that will be great in and of itself.

What cracks me up is how cats are talking about Green like they taught him basketball. If Isiah Thomas, the man who drafted the FIRST T-Mac, didn't take Green, maybe (just MAYBE) it's because he KNOWS that Green won't be the next one. Give the man some damn credit.

Take a sip of the Kool-Aid, and put that Haterade down!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Its not even about the kool aid really. Common sense tells you that there is a reason why Green fell so low! Green went after Graham, Granger, Wright.

Larry Bird and Rod Thorn passed on Gerald Green and I guess Isiah made the same mistake. The posters on this board know better and can evaluate talent better than Bird, Thorn and Zeke apparently!

HARDCORE: What do u grade Zeke last night? I say B+. If he already has a plan, a way to get a Center through trades then last night was an A cause he drafted by need!

Ok - I woke up this morning with a good feeling about Frye. I think he will be a good player for us. At first I was not too happy - but I think it was the right move. Lets see what he can do before we judge him too harshly - but he seems to really want to be here and how can you argue with that? Plus he wants to work hard and already has some skills.

I like the pick, now if we could move him to PF and get a legit 6'10-7 footer who can block shots and run to man the middle..then this team will be NASTY. I will settle for Frye filling out his frame though and manning the 5.

Good point about Bird, Thorn, Donnie Walsh, and the first T-Mac evaluator.

I agree. Even If Isiah loved Green, He had to take Frye. So many other teams were tryna trade up for him, so he has to be somewhat valuable. I dont think Gerald Green will be a Tracy Mcgrady, but for Boston to get him was a great pick-up. The David Lee pick surprised me then I found out he has a 7 foot wingspan with a 42 inch vertical...damn!

Whassup Silver!

Yeah I rated Isiah an A for the draft because he set out for specific talents and met his goal. He wanted Frye and got him (we needed shot blocking, and we drafted the #1 shotblocker in the NCAA). He wanted athleticism and attained it (with all picks). We needed a backup point and got one (short but good). We traded our best defender but drafted 2 solid defenders last night. We needed better shooting, so he picked up last season's #1 3-point shooter. We're moving in the right direction and IMO will continue to do so.

Do the damn thing, Messiah Thomas!

I agree, and what is more telling is that the sonics who need a swingman just in case Allen leaves, passed up green and confidently took webster....

What draft were you watching? Seatlle had the 25th pick. Green went 18. The Blazers picked Webster at 6

Frye is gonna be someone who fits the system that we are going to be running. After reading todays NYpost I love the fact that he wanted to be a Knick so bad. And he said all the right things. Only time will tell.

hahaha, my bad, I was thinking webster being from seattle, I mean to say the blazers, I don't know what I was thinking then. anyway, the same process applies, the blazers were said to have greene on their board and passed him up for webster. the Blazers GM was all googoo over webster....

Yep, only time, and the player's drive. If Frye wants to be the great player that we need, he can. He has the talent an size, its just a matter of him backing up his word..

Everything that has come out from his mouth has been very encouraging. I hope the comparisons to Rasheed Wallace is true or even DraftExpress.com "Best Case Scenario" of a poor man's Chris Bosch.

Frye and Lee and Ariza sounds like a very formidable scrappy, running front line.

Well said Knicksfan. Ewing was a defensive specialist when he got drafted out of college and so was Spree. The players drive will count the most.

I feel like taking Channing Frye over Gerald Green is a move we will regret for the next 15 years. Channing=Charles Smith?

I will still root hard for him succeed and am hoping to prove me wrong, but its my personal opinion that we blew a terrific opportunity.

Vdesai, i tend to agree with what you said here.

Frye was the safe pick but i wouldn't be mad if he had taken Gerald Green.

The Knicks still need a center. Frye is a forward. The question is whether he is Rasheed or Charles Smith.

When he plays he doesn't remind me of Charles Smith at all. He looks a little like him, but there it ends.
