Is Pinada expected to return to form?

I think it's not as bad for the Yanks. We don't know if Pineda's going to return to form. Seattle can be fairly certain Jesus isn't at the same relative value as a possible #1 or #2 starter. He can't hit and he can't catch.

I remember fearing the Yanks traded the next Edgar Martinez - whoops!

I get that, and Im not really concerned with Montero as he is there and Pinada is here, so if he can be a 3rd starter next year, its a plus.

We got lucky with Mo's longevity and Joba's not evoloving into the next great thing, or at least Wetteland!

Im don't follow baseball as I used to but seems there are less "Stars" now and few dominant pitchers. Roids are missed!

I am somewhat worried that Joe Girardi leaves the Yankees for the Nationals. If I had played as a catcher I certainly would want to manage a teams like the Nats

Cards let Pujols go and used the money/picks to keep young and fresh. Grow assets to use, or trade.

It can work. Yanks Farm is weak and we bloated. This will take time.

After wooing Brian McCann during a visit to the Bronx this week, the New York Yankees have agreed to a five-year, $85 million contract with the catcher that includes a vesting option for a sixth season that could push the total to $100 million, a source has told ESPNNewYork.com.

That's a lot for a guy averaging a WAR of about 3.0. Maybe they think his left-handed bat will thrive in Yankees Stadium.

Well here's an interesting article. It does look like Yankees stadium would be a perfect fit for him.

I hope the Yankees don't pick up Carlos Beltran.
1) chronic knee problems
2) turns 37 in April
3) his defense has declined
4) probably be a DH for the Yankees which is crowded already

I wanted the Yanks to sign him in 05 when we wound up with a geriatric Randy Johnson. At this stage, agreed.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/10075982/jacoby-ellsbury-new-york-yankees-agree-contract

Free-agent outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has reached agreement on a seven-year contract with the New York Yankees pending a physical exam, a baseball source told ESPN.com.
According to multiple reports, the deal will pay Ellsbury $153 million over seven years and includes an option for an eighth year that could increase the overall value of the contract to $169 million. Ellsbury's deal exceeds Carl Crawford's seven-year, $142 million contract with the Boston Red Sox in December 2010.

Ugh. I like the guy and I can't wait to see him play but that's a huge contract.

1st yankee stadium was built by Babe Ruth.

The new one is cursed because its built on desperation. Those fancy empty black seats and crazy ticket prices make yankee's prone to making short term moves and that includes not stocking the minors with talent.

Knicks are the same.

The Mecca is short on patience to pay for the new sports palaces.

Can't be too strong of a curse? We won a championship the first year playing in it.

Just watching Hot Stove -- they're reporting Jon Heyman is saying that Cano is close to a deal with Seattle. Man, it's gonna be rough seeing Robbie walk. I wonder if the Yankees were just waiting to see what another club offered before overbidding...What exactly is Seattle's offer? Anyone know? North of $200mm? Do we make a counter offer?

If Cano bolts, what's the backup plan? Infante AND Granderson maybe? Ellsbury by himself won't make up for the loss of Cano and Granderson....We're gonna need more.

Some good news -- Kuroda's coming back. 1 yr deal, $16mm.

So we have some real holes in the infield and pitching-both starting and the bullpen.

No Mo Mo.

Has any releif pitcher ever solved the trait of walking too many batters late in games, Mr. Robertson?
