The idea of Towns is great until you see what a ***** he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate. Oh well.
Yeah I hate from a culture and fit standpoint. Towns isn't really center. They're planning to give up too much for what's essentially a swap of two flawed forwards.
I guess you could play Towns and Precious together. Towns spreads the floor on one end and gives you rim protection and rebounding on the other so those two theoretically should fit. The flexibility with Towns gives you more mix and match options. I’m starting to like the trade. He’s a year younger than Randle and has 3 years until his player option. Hello 2nd apron here we come atleast for now
Towns averaged .7 blocks a game last year.
how did that compare to randle?
That's not really the point. I'm pushing back on the idea that Towns solves the teams center issues. He doesn't really defend the rim.
He's a PF and will be when Mitch returns. He can prob fill in better at C than Randle would have.
Yeah, but we already have Precious who I think will do a better job defensively that both. It feels like this trade was made for the sake of making a trade..Towns is marginally better than Randle at best and I feel this is a lateral move. Probably a negative for us once you throw in Donte.
KAT fits positionally better and has better shooting metrics and better defensive stats. Same or worse attitude. Worse health history. It’s the right move, though I am sad it cost DDV and picks. He’s like a top 5 possible choices for C in a 4-1 offense or a 5 out.
Sad about DDV, but I approve.
@BlueKnickers.. if you gonna brag, the receipts you bring should be date-stamped. I think your comment is flawed - KAT doesn’t need a pass first PG. He is at his best as the heliocentric pass first center. His offense exerts so much gravitational force he bends the court around him. It creates shorter pathways for Brunson to travel to the hoop. Brunson should be KAT’s first option, but a down hill OG or Mikal are eFG superstars.
In any event, it’s great to be arguing why they are playing so well.
Yes, you're exactly right, KAT doesn't need a pass first PG when you run more of the offense through KAT. That is the point after all. You could re-phrase it as more of the action should be initiated by KAT. Being first or second option in that context tends to matter less anyway.
But yes, Brunson is the first option anyway, but with KAT in passing mode the angles of attack explode wide open and Brunson can go as nuts as he wants with less ball usage. Everyone's going nuts. The whole thing is nuts. Everything you said is correct.
Not that it should matter that much, but feel free to ask blckexec if they show up to post, because him and I were active proponents of this adjustment during the regular season before it became a media talking point late in the season. That is why I mentioned them. Silly rabbit, receipts are for kids
Anyway, the only people who get to brag are Coach Brown and the players. I had my opinion, but they're the ones who get the glory not people like us in the peanut gallery
This has been very entertaining. Can't complain even if I had major frustrations earlier in the season
