Even with his major flaw of not being able to break down the defense I stand by my draft day opinion that McBride was a better pick than Cooper.

Not sure this is a good idea for the Celtics, but now it’s been leaked it’s just p-ing off Jaylen Brown even more. Would probably be an okay return for the Nets though

Jaylen and Marcus seem to be perpetually offered. I'd be pissed if i were one of them.

I'd consider picking him up on a two-way if the DMitch trade goes through. He showed some promise in the G-LEAGUE.

As I recall there was a fair amount of angst here over taking Grimes, Rokas, McBride and not this guy. Pretty quick to cut bait by the Hawks I'd say. Is it a financial thing? Or....

He didn't look good in Summer League. Plus they have some decent prospects to play backup PG. And they sold one of their kidneys to get Murray. If Mitchell is aquired, the team is going to have to restock it's prospect pool. Not confident he'd stick, but I'd take a flyer.

Celtics should explore a trade and then see what's left to contend with. It for sure narrows the window big time vs a core duo that can sustain for some time with another pass.
At the end of the day while KD is 33, its not like Kawhai where he had just one year on his deal. True, Durant wanted out of OKC, Then GSW, now BKN.
Some see it as an entitled diva. This dude though keeps it closer to the vest now, is a bit of a hoop savant who loves to play/win, and might not really care what is thought of him.
He has pushed back on social media a few years back but been laid back more. Since he left OKC he actually does less endorsement stuff now it seems.

Quiet on the brunson Tamper?
I thought Cube's comments were cool. Said the league might look into it but he was cool how it all went down.
Reality is Thibs had his pops on staff in Minny and with Bulls. When Kenny Payne left there was an opening.
Not like he hired him to lure his son. There was precedence. Kid wants to play for his dad and its not like the money was not equal. Far from it.
That it happend minutes after? The money was bigger than Dallas' offer. Not like he took less.
Think the knicks and all involved were not cognizant of potential tamper? I would think they documented what they needed to and can defend it. I'd be suprised if they get snagged.

If it takes Barry to further your reading enjoyment then so be it. Not like I have a relationship with the former President and he asked me what was on my reading list.

Or do I????

Regardless, We are a bunch of guys talking hoop and the past does matter. It was a good era for Knicks and you’ll learn a lot. Starts off very enjoyable as X-man character was described with humor. Its a little painful as we all know the ending all to well.

I read Rileys stuff and it was interesting. He puts on a good show at times but it still has teeth. Phils books also were interesting. The hoopla of him talking about players got over played by media given the context of a book does proper weighting. Headlines made him look like a dick at times. He gives the full story and one can judge for ones self. Parroting others is all too easy especially these days. To me what made phil a fascinating study was he really thought outside the box in many ways from most pro coaches, yet he installed a very pure complicated system that few attempted. To know Tex Winters story and how the offense was conceived and implimented was very cool to read. My take is that Phil and his approach was about the only one to professionally make it work in the most outside the box way. In retrospect that he got Jordan to buy in is quite amazing. Naturally Jordan persona does not allow him to give full credit to him. nor to Krause whom Phil did not get along with either. Not that drafting Jordan was any accomplishment at the time, but that Krause orchstrated the union of talent as it unfolded. Given the personalities it was a feat that the era did last as long as it did. You had an owner who participated also. It might not have ended on a good note but what a story it was!

His laker era and the relationship with Kobe was a whole other book. Good reading.

With this in mind I was stoked when Dolan hired him. We now understand why he wanted Kerr as his coach given his success with GSW. The Fisher hire was something else.

The great regret was not that he did not turn out to be a great exec. He sucked but did not damage the franchise mortally in the aftermath. It was that he never coached the knicks. I doubt he’d have achieved what he did had he stayed in the franchise. Perhaps when Dave Checketts was interested in him it could have worked. He used it as leverage to get a deal with lakers who fairly had the talent base far greater than what was had at that time. Everyone has his own path and growth. But its fun to think otherwise.

Thx for posting. RJ game does his talking and for all the starphuching we do this quiet kid just gets better and better. He is notching up at higher level. Pleasure watching this kid the last few years. Exited to see what Brunsons game can bring to him and Jules.
DM? I’m on the fence with that. Fun stuff to follow and if a deal gets done I doubt we’ll have a universal opinion if the Poll I did recently is any indication. Seems about split. Big trades do have pain points for fans and it takes years to see the result.
