Those remaining 4 ABA teams due to teams defaulting and other teams picking up the best players were really quite good and very NBA ready. Denver success for a few years showed it. not elite mind you, but they had great talent. George Mcginnis ended up on Philly than staying with Indiana and Nets we all know had a fire sale to get in the NBA. Stupid that was never figured out. ABA players were quite represented in the all star games after the merger.

Team values were crazy, the owner of the Braves in Buffalo swapped with the owner of the Celtics. Buffalo then moved to San Diego. Famous story St Louis ABA team as compensation taking a cut of the TV money, a 31th share instead of coming into the league an proved to be the like a half a billion dollar mistake!

Hmmmm...playing Golden State has a strange influence on a player's health, or so it would seem.

You wonder about Whiteside's durability...he could cost himself a lot of money next year if this is a problem the rest of the year.

Didn't he have an mri on his knee? I always worry because I believe Shump had an mri on his knee and was cleared and ended up tearing his acl and mcl later that season.

Got the give them credit...Wade and Johnson both played- and they were the only ones on the team with + ratings while on the court... Whiteside sat out.

Source tells ESPN the Cavs have traded Joe Harris to ORL w/ a protected 2017 pick for a future protected 2020 pick. Will save CLE $3 mill

Bizarre story - the Atlanta Hawks game of choice is to play the card game Uno. Tim Hardaway has been kicked out of the game and not invited back. It's a funny story overall and worth reading.

The games almost always continue from takeoff to landing, and each player is expected to be a full participant, with no excused absences. Guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who was a part of the group earlier this season, learned that lesson. After a couple of weeks spent honing his Uno expertise, teammates said, he wanted to take a break, if only for one flight.

“He said he was tired and wanted to rest,” Schroder said. “So we had to kick him out.”

Hardaway has not been invited back. Those who have stuck with the game cite the value of chemistry and camaraderie.

Wow. Good for him. He has talked about coming back. Getting on the court as to help. Reichert is a great follow on twitter.

Rose went out with an injury. Good game between the Bucks and Bulls. It would be nice if Milwaukee can get the win. 95-93, Bulls

Karl Anthony Towns said his dad made him play soccer...part of some master athletics plan for him. I am not a soccer fan, but expect that it would help a basketball player's agility/footwork a great deal, assuming you didn't get hurt playing it.

Steve Nash was a big soccer guy, too.

I saw an interesting quote from Kobe recently - I forget where - but he said that he played soccer growing up in Italy. And it helped his concept of understanding the Triangle, because in soccer you think of formations of threes a lot - passing between three guys to set up a score. And so much American basketball is formations of two - pick and roll, etc. And it was hard to play with guys who had only thought of attacking in twos. It was interesting, peppered with a little of Kobe's trademark arrogance. But it made sense to me.

Absolutely the footwork part, too. Also, I played soccer in high school - I played basketball freshman year, too - in soccer we had to run five miles BEFORE practice. Never did that in bball. I think soccer guys have better conditioning overall than basketball guys.

Soccer is a fantastic sport as a baseline for any kid who wants to develop footwork and carry that over to another sport. Guaranteed. And yes, Hakeem was famous for the soccer stuff as a youth.

A number of my best wrestlers when I coached in HS played soccer during the fall sports season.

This KP thing is still freaky to watch. There is a subtle, effortless, and almost ridiculous, athleticism in play here that a 7'3" athlete should simply not be able to have.

spurs/cavs is a fun game. playoff-level intensity
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
