First Pitch: Where are the Yankees?
NEW YORK -- Robinson Cano said it best, the lack of Yankees at the All-Star festivities is "weird."

As Cano pointed out, there is no Derek Jeter, no Alex Rodriguez and no CC Sabathia. There are five Orioles in Queens (Chris Davis, J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones, Manny Machado and Chris Tillman). But just two Yankees (Mariano Rivera and Cano).

But therein lies the problem: there’s no guarantee Rivera will be able to close out the game. The National League team could have a late lead, meaning Rivera might have to come in in the eighth to assure an appearance.

Maybe Leyland was concerned about the remote possibility that they would give up 4+ runs in the 8th inning and Mariano wouldn't get a chance to pitch in the 9th?!

Time to rebuild. The core 4 are (almost) no more.
