Hey they got the hit machine, Ichiro!

Pretty sure he's hit safely in every game as a Yankee.

Unless Ichiro discovers the fountain of youth, that was just a waste of time, $2.5 mil, and two pitching prospects.

Yeah, I can't believe they've had the best record in baseball for most of the season, too! See what no passion for winning will do for you...

Who were they going to get? Are teams lining up to send effective bats to the Yankees?

The Steinbrenners have done all right. The rumors about them trying to sell the team are worrisome, though. I miss the days when the Yankees were light year ahead of the opposition, rather than just being another good team.

Until CC gets back.

Seriously, I was up in the air when we signed him but the guy has been GREAT.

Other than W-L, everything indicates that Kuroda has pitched better this year than CC. I think CC may be on the downhill side of his career, unfortunately. I'd say the game 1 start in the playoffs should be up for grabs and I'd be leaning towards Kuroda.

Looking at the numbers I can't disagree. No way Girardi starts Kuroda over CC though.

Good problem to have, not knowing who your best pitcher actually is.

I like being a Yankee fan. We have such cool problems.

Wish we could have those type of problems with the Knicks.

It's crazy the production we're getting out of Ibanez, Jones, etc...

...and Freddy Garcia??? Was that really Freddy Garcia last night? SMH

That Hamilton is a freaking monster.

Everyone questioned the Cashman and his signings this year...lo and behold, they are saving our season. I LOVE IT!

Jeter and A-Rod (especially A-Rod) are badly overpaid, which limits the team but otherwise Cash has done well.

The Yankees have a self imposed limit. They can afford to pay whatever they want.

BTW - Love beating the Red Sux.

Kuroda's down to a 2.96 ERA and tied for second in ESPN's WAR.

It's incredible the stupidity you can listen to (or read, for that matter) about Jeter.

I understand YankeeHate has been fashionable for decades and is a birthrite for most of the population, but seriously?
I listened to 8 callers in a row yesterday on the WFAN talk about how no one would know who Jeter was if he played on any other team.

The man's going to finish in the top 10 in almost every category there is. He's rubbing shoulders now with the likes of Willie Mays and Lou Gehrig. He's leading the league in hits at 38 freakin years old. He's never been thrown out of a game.

I hate the Mets, and could care less about almost every other team in MLB. But I can respect the achievements, skill and professionalism of people like Seaver, Leiter and Cone (<----yeah, a little bias on that last one). I can be in awe at times of people like Maurer and Hamilton and Pujols. Don't people realize they sound stupid?

Injured Pineda charged with DUI.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/8286811/injured-new-york-yankees-pitcher-michael-pineda-charged-dui

Quite a first year for the biggest Yankee acquisition this past offseason. The only good thing is he's 23, so alot of this is correctable. Otherwise, the injury concerns, the work ethic, the maturity, and off the field concerns are pretty troubling if you're the Yankees.

It would trouble me more as a Yankee fan if not for the following:

Jesus Montero HR-12 RBI-46 BA.261 OBP.302 (Yes, I know anything would be better than Martin/Stewart, but hey)
Hector Noesi 2-11 ERA 5.77 (A DUI and a missed season actually works out better than this)

If we weren't in first place, it would bother me even more.
