My hatred runs deep

Have to admit, I was in the same boat. Kinda bitter sweet about watching the Yanks get swept (even in meaningless games) but WOW! What a collapse by Boston! Rays come back from 7 down to win in 12, and Baltimore scores 2 in the bottom of the 9th to knock Boston out of the playoffs. I'm content.

It's nice to see the Red Sox miss the playoffs but I can't say I'm proud or supportive of the way the Yankees' organization approached these last three games. I know I'm in the minority here but I think the team management looks more like immature kids with a petty rivalry rather than a serious team trying to establish a winning atmosphere. I think they owed more than what they gave to the integrity of the sport.

Seriously? WERE WE UP 7-0 (or something to that effect) IN THE EIGTH INNING? We were one out away from winning the game?

You think Girardi's calling for candy pitches late in the game so he can dump the Sox? Really?

You have no idea what you are talking about. Girardi had to get the team setup for the post season, and we still competed against the Rays. This is an iditotic statement. You must be a closet Sawx fan. What would you have expected? For Girardi to start CC and tire out the valuable bullpen? Stupid!

This one is not on the Yanks. Boston was in control of their own destiny. They had their stud closer and could not shut the door. Bring your best and if you don't get it done, go home. Those fools let their guard down.

I would have liked to see a one game playoff and erase any doubt.

I don't hate the Sawx as I used to as they have diluted themselves with free agents. Starphuch teams lose their soul. Yankee core has carried them for 17 years now and im sure Sawx fans HATE them.

I like the Tampa Team and glad they have progressed more than my glee to see the Sawx fail. But don't get me wrong, I DO have some glee!

If you're proud of how they handled the series, then fine. The Yankees' management comments are incoherent at best. They've talked about how CC doesn't pitch as well on 5 instead of 4 days of rest and that's why he struggled down the stretch, and then they give him about 8 or 9 days off before the playoffs? With a brief throwing session instead of pitching for a few innings in a real game? They have six starting pitchers but can't find anyone other than Noese to start a game?

What a disappointment yesterday's battle of he aces turned out to be. I'm a little surprised they're not pitching CC until game 3 at the earliest. He threw only 27 pitches - after 8 days of rest. Most relievers would be ready to pitch again the next day. I guess his body isn't used to that though and they want to be careful. I thought there was a chance they'd let him finish game 1 and then start game 5 if necessary.

CC is a work horse but he got tired down the stretch.

Yanks pen is deep with Hughes. Verlander is the Freaking best pitcher this year and they doing the same. With Detroit, bring him back for game 2 and if he gets hit he is done for the series. Choice is a quality start on game three at home. For yanks, If Freddie can get them 5 quality innings they are good to go.

Jose Valverde told reporters after Sunday's Game 2 victory in New York that the ALDS "is over."
"Oh yeah," said the Tiger closer, after helping his club even the five-game series. "It's over already. Verlander has it [Monday]. Next day, have the celebration in Detroit -- 100 percent. The Yankees have a good team, but I think that's it for them." Valverde made the remarks in a joking manner, but that won't matter to the Yankees or their fans.

This guy is a douche and I hope this fires up the team a bit!!! Let's go CC!!

Wow, that's an incredible statement to make.
Still, I did not like this match-up from the beginning. If you look at all the regular season stats, the two teams are virtually even; maybe the Yankees have a very tiny edge in most categories. I probably would have given the Yankees a 55% and the Tigers a 45% chance of winning the series. You work really hard all season to get the best record in the American League. This is not the kind of match-up you should get as a result. The idea that you can't play a team in your division in the first round is ****ty.

It's great when an a-hole who knows he's not getting in the batter's box can talk sheehit.

I especially love the credibility of a guy who's pitched one inning and gave up two runs.

Somebody in the Yankees back office have better turned this into a six foot banner and glued it to the inside of the clubhouse and the dugout.

Here's a worrisome statement: The next two (potentially decisive) games are both in Detroit and in both cases Detroit's starting pitcher had a significantly better season than ours did.

They split, then its back to ny for game 5........

Nothing is guaranteed, even for the Yankees. Shit happens, its what makes sports great.

If the yanks win ever year its not fun, its expected.

This home plate umpire is trying to hand the series to Detroit. I can't believe it.

Ok, now you can be worried.

Its all up to AJ!

Soriano makes Cashman look good. Hank done messed up!

All year long, the starting line up in a short series was the worry.

worry!
