All this with a no. 1 starter who is tired, and no the no. 2 starter not really having that title!

I appreciate the team not panicking to make a deal for a pitcher. We relied on offense and got the job done.

1st place and so far top record in the AL!

My expectation is we run into hot pitching and we going to be toast.

But we are in the playoffs and maybe, just maybe Jorge gets to be the hero one more time!

Dream series of Yankees vs. Phillies would be intense. An all star pitching rotation vs. an All star line up! Who steps up? Phillies bats or the Yankee pitching staff?

Some of you are likely too young to remember but one of the best series I recall was the Astros-Mets in the NLCS which the Mets were the team of destiny but the Astros had a hand of hot pitchers led by Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan. Those two both started their careers with the Mets and were traded to find great success with their new teams. Ryan became a star with the Angels and Scott was having a great season in 86'.

The Buckner miscue and the Red Sawx series was the headliner but for the mets to get there they got taken to seven games and wore out the Mets a bit for Series.

Yanks-Phillies would be a blast, providing of course its a close series!

Eh, OK. I was at work all day and forgot there was a double-header. I'd rather jeopardize a reliever's health with extra work than CC's though.

They were saying during the radio broadcast that even after he gave up the second home run that tied the game, that coming out would be CC's call.

That said, Joe has been pretty good at managing the staff's workload throughout his Yankee tenure. Joe said when Hughes was looking unlikely that he'd go to alot of reliever in game 1, so I'm sure CC was mentally prepared for a big workload.

It's not a matter of predjudice, it's a matter of reading comprehension. This is a Yankee thread. Soon to be 28 rings means I don't need to talk about others' great series. I'm a fan of Yankee greatness. You're not able to come up with a great Yankee memory?

To talk Mets on here is to depress the enjoyment level of the rest of the comments.

I remember the parades in the 80's. No one cares right now.

Not a matter of who cares or not. If you comprehend what I wrote instead of being a snob you'd see I was making reference to a great series where great pitching nearly derailed the team of destiny. No mention of any Met players were there? No mention of "how great it was that year".......It was a baseball thing.

What was the common theme? That the Yankees and Phillies, the two best teams make the world series and it become a classic.

Baseball is filled with great moments, wishing for another yankee great moment is not so bad.

If you only watch to see the Yankees win perhaps your missing what baseball can be about.

If you could comprehend that fan is short for fanatic, you would understand the mild contempt I have for everything Mets. Again, you might want to peruse the thread. Not alot of Met's mentions in here. Having been born and misraised in the area, anti-Yankee is fairly common for Met's fans. A much milder case of anti-Mets is part and parcel of the Yankee aura. I think you could see the clarity of this in action should you take the reverse of your commments over to the Met's thread, touting great Yankee moments.

What I've learned being a Knick fan is that I can balance that homeless experience with being a snob Yankee fan.
Being a fan of a team and being a fan of a sport are two very different things. If you have reached that nirvana where the sport transcends your team allegiance, goody for you. I love basketball; I root for the Knicks. I mildly appreciate baseball as a game; I'm rabid about the Yankees.

To me, it's all about maintaining that even keel.
