Assuming we get past Detroit, we're going to need Deuce to hit shots or we're going to get embarrassed against Boston.

He never regained that consistency he had pre injury.

IMO, Deuce is what he has been. A decent off the bench role player that gives top effort.
Don’t think we “need” him to beat a team like Boston. Although it obviously helps.
What we “need” is for our key starters (OG and Bridges) to play at a high level. Which they have not done consistently all year.

He is due for a game where he is hot from 3, but I think he's lacking a little confidence right now. I have liked his defensive effort/hustle. You can still impact the game.

I have not talked to him about his confidence but I'll take a stab that his jumpers knee still might be an issue.
We need him and every role player to in my opinion to play well.

Not just knicks but all teams starters are banged up this time of the year and play big minutes earning the big salaries!
Playoff Thibs keeps all his non starters on short leashes. Get hot he'll ride that but falter and he seems to go back to his dependable players and not let a deficit get out of hand. Not to say it does not execute that way, but seems to go that way.

Of course I'd like to see more bench play but Thibs don't play it like that. Most teams don't.
Until he gets a chip he'll be questioned for it.

I suspect Mitch gets over his bug by Tomorrow and I'd like to see more deuce and see his Shamet can find a hot vein and contribute.

Yeah the bench has largely been MIA outside of a Cam cameo. And Shamet has been a zero so far on super limited minutes.

He most recently had a groin injury. Shot looks a little out of rhythm. Point is taken that he hasn't seen a lot of court time so he's not as in rhythm as he might be. Sometimes with him, he needs to nail the first couple and then he goes from there. In this game he made his first one, so I think we're all thinking is this gonna be his game, but then I think he almost airballed one. He also tried to dunk one where he would have wound up 2 feet short of the basket, but was luckily fouled. When he is going well form is consistent and he tends to swish...he will get there with more reps. I thought he is important in helping guard Schroeder who has hurt us this series.

Overall Knicks had a weird game where they shot 45% from 3 and 28% from 2. They have been dreadful from 3 in all the games prior, so even though Deuce didn't have it going it was nice to see them hit some really tough 3s, especially in the 4th. Gotta keep shooting. I think when the Knicks didn't have the shooting going well in the 2nd half of the season, they tended to stop trying from 3.

I feel better about Boston now. They are getting pushed by a mediocre Orlando team right now. Every game has been close. ORL is a horrid offensive team and not nearly the same on D without Suggs. They are definition of mid. Boston is also beat up across the board. They are definitely not clicking on all cylinders.

Is it the injuries? I haven't been watching and didn't even realize Jrue Holiday was out for a game.

Tatum sat for a game. But he ok.
Brown has a knee bruise, but seems ok.
KP has sucked.

Granted, I expect we on a collision course with them but KP loves playing vs. Knicks. Im not talking **** until we defeat them.

I would love for KP to suck in our series, but I'll expect he gets up for it, like he usually does.

Both Deuce and Shamet are too inconsistent and streaky to be trusted in elimination games. Same as Precious. Great minutes eaters in the regular season but I don't see Thibs giving any of them a long leash

New Knick name? Cam E. O. Payne?

Tatum missed game 2, Brown has been battling a knee issue since late regular season, Holiday is currently out. They have had some lingering stuff across the board and just aren't clicking on all cylinders at the moment.

Definitely not talking ****, but I think if you look at Boston and CLE right now, CLE looks way more dominant.

You never know about injuries. Indy didn't know down 0-2 that OG was gonna go out and Hart was gonna tear an AB and Brunson would break his wrist eventually.

It can turn south pretty quickly! 2019 GSW lost Klay in game 6 opening the door for Toronto to win its chip with Kawahi.
Durant was hobbled thru the playoffs also blew out his achilles..........

One never knows. God gifted Raptors when he smit'd the Warriors that year.

back to the original topic. Deuce has had a tough year and right now has been mostly a dud

he seems more interested in making sure his headband and hairdo are jus so (and they do look good). BUT he's half the player of last year and needs to get it going

He shot the ball well early and then got hurt. Came back and took a while to get into a rhythm, and then got hurt again. Its just one of thos years. Still he wasn't THAT bad. Its just that he had a lot riding on his role because of our lack of depth. 3 of our top 4 bench guys on a team who's weakness was depth all missed a fair amount of time (Precious, Deuce, Shamet).
