Shucks. Loved the idea of what his potential was but he just never got things going.

Would be an ambitious reclamation project. If he’s willing to play for non taxpayer MLE I’d give him a shot.

The one that is already filled by Yabu?

Yes and beyond that we only had the Taxpayer MLE

If we are talking about a 12th man I think McCullar makes sense over s vet. If McCullar can stay on a 2 way that's fine - but now that he is healthy, there's more than a fair chance he is more useful than Dadiet to us this year.

He played his way into a minimum contract. He has useful skills, but sort no consistent mental game.

Gave us lots of great moments when he was getting more minutes. Will always root for him.

He should sign with OKC. He played his best next to IHart, they had good chemistry.

Plus he doesn't need to contribute for them to win!

I’m actually intrigued bc of ball handling

Is also either an emergency or a semi-regular guy that can defend the 5. Actually can probably defend 1-5 in most cases.

Precious unfortunately continues to be betrayed by his hands and his touch or lack thereof of both.

Hard to develop soft hands and a soft touch if you just naturally don't have either.

He was my FAVORITE most of last year - had sky high hopes he would blossom into a legit PF who could also score some. The worst thing this year is that he didn't show up defensively and also to a degree on the boards.

You'd think these guys with 10's of thousands of reps shooting and with his great athletic gifts could develop that skill but just not happening yet.

More I think of Simmons - more it intrigues.

We lack length (& defensive length) off the bench.

Simmons for all of his faults (missing games at the top of the list) has an ELITE b-ball IQ particularly defending.

His size, ability to guard multiple and his ball movement are ALL NEEDS.

Problem with Simmons is he can’t shoot the 3. Like at all.

Could be interesting with him on the ball with Brunson, KAT, Bridges and OG spread out. Personally, I always thought he was overrated as a playmaker in the half court.

He basically can't and or won't shoot at all --- he may be the only guy softer on offense around the rim than Mikal.

I actually thought Exum would have been a nice pick up as big PG who can play off ball, shoot 3 and defend. Begley said he considered Knicks before signing back with Mavs.

If Knicks were snooping around Exum and Simmons - would seem they are looking for another ball handler (small or big).

2 questions need to be answered -- where / how do they plan to play Deuce and Clarkson.

Do they view Clarkson as effectively the PG off the bench with Deuce at the SG off bench.

Or are they looking for a PG to be 1st option off bench with Clarkson playing SG off bench - which could indicate Deuce starting.

You can sort this by years of experience. To me this looks like McCullar or bust as there aren't any players here that make a lot of sense unless we free even more space.

Interesting, good catch! I think you're right, must be McCullar. But you know the FO already know who their guy is - they didn't arrive at that number by accident.

I think they can basically watch Summer League and decide if he should get a full deal or a 2-way deal. Not just games, but the practices, etc. and see how ready they think he is and how healthy. If not, they can free up more space. I'm sure they are gonna keep taking the temperature of quality guys that are available - Simmons, Exum etc. make sense b/c they either have a blue chip background or at least one blue chip skill. Once we start scraping for the Cody Martin (who btw, I like a lot) then it probably makes more sense to just go with McCullar because what McCullar is bringing you is a Cody Martin type skillset with more upside.

Correction on the vet min. This opens things up further, and after the Jazz trade, it sounds like Kevin Love is going to hit FA for what it's worth.
