Sport is not war. We play for fun. We play for the joy of competition. We play for the comaraderie. We do not play to kill.

The artistry of the game is what makes The Answer Man smile. The extra pass. the steal and the breakaway. The 13-2 run that brings the Garden to its feet.

The process is what makes viewing enjoyable. The final score is temporary. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Andrea Bargnani will affect how the Knicks play basketball in a positive way.

Misterearl some people will hate so much they can't enjoy the game and won't support the team and they call them selves fans. Now I'm not calling anyone on this forum this but do you remember a soccer team in I believe in South America lost a game in a championship round or runner up. When they got back to their country a couple of the players were murdered by so called fans because they didn't play to their liking. Hate is a bad thing. I'm not saying anyone on this forum is like that. All I am saying is that a so called fan who has so much rage and hate for a player on a team needs to check him self out or maybe get some help. I'm a die hard Knicks fan and I get upset when they loose but I do not single out a player with raging hate every time I post or almost every time I post.A fan is just a fan who should enjoy the game win or loose. It's cool to be upset win you loose. Taking a player personal all the time is sick and you need some real help no matter how well you articulate your words you are still a mental case.

What about people who have so much hate for a particular fan's style of posting here?

I don't get it either. Why do people pick on Jrod so much?

It's because I'm a right wingnut homer. We always bear the brunt of the Somber Marxist pseudo-intelligentsia hate.

You'll notice they don't even pick on me. They just don't respond.

You know I'm being sarcastic, right?

Oh, the amount of detail you went into made it seem to me like these were thoughts you had seriously considered.

The Ghetto Superstar

azamatbagatov - I would be willing to bet a dozen jelly donuts that if Melo was traded for Lebron today, there would be as much, if not more, vitriol coming from those 2 if anything less than a four game NBA championship sweep were brought to New York.

You can take that to Krispy Kreme.

bonn - you are moronic, idiotic, self aggrandizing, selfish and one dimensional.

But that's just related to what you write so it's cool, right?

Of course not.

bonn - you are an informed and passionate Knicks fan, whose views I respect, whether I agree or not.

There is no disputing that Carmelo Anthony is a target for abuse for reasons that are grounded in bias against the successful ghetto superstar who had everything given to him and never had to work hard. His talents were bestowed at birth and his jumper was inherited from his moms. His smile is a taunt of arrogance.

His wife flaunts her sexy and sits in the front row. She is hotter than what he deserves and probably a gold digger. He held the owner of the franchise at gunpoint forcing him to sacrifice his best assets, thereby gutting the team, so he could work where he wanted. In a system of forced labor, nobody works where they want. Free will is a privilege reserved for owners, not the workers.

The media takes the parable and runs with it, noting his obscene salary at every opportunity. The return can never match the investment. Miley Cyrus has a net worth of $120 million. It's cool. She is an entertainer. She is an artist. She has it easy. The ghetto superstar must carry the burden of a franchise. The ghetto superstar is also destined to fail. According to tkf and dk7th, the inevitability of that failure is cause for celebrating defeat, boycotting the franchise, or riot.

The ghetto superstar needs to be run out of town. We need things to go back to the way they used to be back in the good old days. We should send the ol' boys to Carmelo's house to burn a cross on his lawn.

you sound like the psycho stalker that killed Jon Lennon or the one that took Camby's sister hostage.

DurzoBlint - to you perhaps. The sound that you hear may irritate your ears, that does not make it any less truth.

The killer of John Lennon? Really? Is a comparison to a murderer your only takeaway?

sheesh

I dont know, earl. I agree with you that the hate from some is on a personal level, but to imply that they're racist? I think that's a bit much and quite offensive. I have to give TKF credit for having a much more tame response than I would have had I been in his position.

TeamBall - point well taken. Unfortunately, the moment race is mentioned, the kneejerk reaction is to put it in the bucket of calling someone a racist, which I did not. The conversation is never easy because the first response is, "I am not a racist!"

No one wants to deal with culture and context.

Where is the justice in Dez Bryant being suspended for 10 games of his college career for having lunch with Deion Sanders?

Johnny Manziel gets 30 minutes. A half game.

Meanwhile, George Zimmerman walks free and now wants $200,000 in court costs reimbursed by The State of Florida. This, after donations to his cause flooded in from all over the country.

You damn right The Answer Man is pissed.

Besides, it's well-documented that tkf's Melohate goes beyond mere melanin levels to the cellular level. tkf hates his teeth, his facial structure, his bone marrow, his breath, the very fact that Melo's taking in oxygen that could be used for other purposes...

Race is a sensitive topic. Apparently Melo is as well. Every thread with him in the title seems bound to take a wrong turn.

I try to stay away from silliness like that.. people tend to scream "racist" when they have no argument.. for the record, I am of the same race lebron, wade, and even that chucker carmelo... what I do find funny tho, is the hero worship that tends to go on with some NY fans, to me that is a more compelling topic than why I dislike carmelo..

all of this is irrelevant...

Dez bryant was suspended because he broke the rules and Dez is a fool

manzel has nothing to do with Dez bryant

George zimmerman isn't asking for money, his lawyers are... the state was stupid for trying to overcharge zimmerman therefore producing a lengthy and expensive trial.. instead of going for lesser charges, for example look up the Andrea schniederman case here in Atlanta. A case in which the state knew it couldn't get her on conspiracy to murder in the death of here husband, but instead went on lesser charges of giving false statements and lying during an investigation.. she got 5 years.. and oh yea.. she is white..

cut it out bro..

Screaming Racism

tkf - the fact you are the same race as Carmelo does not mean your views on race are not affected by negative stereotypes.

The Ghetto Superstar Chucker formerly known as Carmelo is not a savior. The Chucker is not a hero or a role model. He is barely a better than average basketball player. He is not solely responsible for the fortune of the franchise.

He is just a man.

Flawed. Imperfect. A work in progress.

this had NOTHING to do with race but, your stating that his house should burn down. WTF..he has a wife and children...you should never wish something like this on people. I happen to believe in Karma.

#12 on the current active list to go to the Hall. That's the one in Springfield, not Towson Catholic. Barely better than average? I don't think so.

AnswerMan is starting to be affected by the fumes.

tkf - I invite your reasoned rebuttal for justifying the vitriol that is directed towards Carmelo Anthony, with popular culture (and United States history) as the context.

i HAVE justified it so many times.. use google, I am sure there are plenty of TKF quotes out there..

Good answer.

Think of it this way, Carmelo Anthony adds two rebounds, and subtracts two points per game and he averages 27 and 10.

It is all a matter of perspective.

you crossed a line with your accusation.

but because i am a charitable guy i will simply say that i have lived my life according to the following credo: i judge people not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

since people are not of equal character in any society, occasionally you will find that social strata naturally form, often dependent on economic status and education but necessarily tied to it. but these elements must constantly be addressed nonetheless until there is greater equality here.

be that as it may, i nonetheless consider myself an elitist surrounded by riffraff, and riffraff as you will agree are not tied to any one color, but rather values, either false values or their absence.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
