Bonn, it's another year of people making excuses for the Mavericks. It is a team of excuses. If it isn't the officials screwing them over in the 06 finals, then its the league fixing it so that they face the Warriors the next year, then it's the Hornets getting all the calls. It is a team with a loser's mentality led by Captain Softie. As the fired Avery Johnson said "we as an organization make a lot of excuses for losing and not enough plays for winning." The owner rather face officals and camera men than his team fight the opponent.
I don't care about the Mavs. I'm disappointed the refs blew a great NBA game and probably the entire series.

Once again how did the refs blow the game? It goes back to the notion that you believe the Mavericks were going to get a stop or the ball back to ensure the victory. You can't have it both ways and say I know it is illogical that the game was over with the no call but then say they blew the game. Melo made the shot? Why did he continue to play and Wright didn't?

Uhm, didn't the NBA admit that the refs blew the call?

Martin, so you believe that the call decided the game. I'm sure that the officials miss a lot of calls during games and make calls that aren't fouls. If Melo missed the shot nobody even talks about this. Next time get mad at Melo for trying to win the game and stop him. The NBA only admitted to not making a call, doesn't explain why come Melo was allowed to shoot an uncontested 3 pointer when no whistle was called. So you just playing if you felt you didn't get a call your way. You try to foul then put up your hands like hey I didn't foul him. Help me here Mr. Official.

It's called displaced anger. It causes you to shove the camera guy when you really want to shove your players. "It's everybody's fault but mine"

Displayed anger? I didn't see the game nor do I even care about the series. I think you got some displaced over-explaining of displaced anger.

As backed by the NBA itself, Melo should never have been allowed to shoot the shot, so everything after that up until he made the shot shouldn't have happened. Wright should have wrapped him up better to make sure the non-shooting foul gets called. After that anything can still happen but it heavily favors Dallas (Dener with 3.4 seconds left down 2 and still having to inbound the ball).

But it did happen. Is the league going to make the series 2-1? I tell you something else. It's going happen again. In another series, to another team, another year and another sport. Officials and umpires miss calls or don't make ones that you hope for. It's irrevelant if you watch the games or not. The fact still remains the Mavericks couldn't stop open layups at the end of the game and couldn't score. The fact is that they allow the winning shot to go off because they stopped before the whistle was blown. They put themselves in a position to lose and did so. Shoving camera men and yelling at the officials ain't going help you find proper ways to defend in the 4th quarter. More excuses not enough answers.

we are talking about 2 different things. The ref blew a very important, very blatantly easy call to make which effected the outcome of the game. That was my only point.
Exactly; whether the refs f'd up big time and whether Wright did are two independent questions. I'd YES is the answer to BOTH questions.

I guess the Captain gets it. My point was that whether the ref makes a call or not, the game came down to a player making an uncontested 3 pointer. I guess the captain gets it.

Dirk Nowitzki: "I thought (Wright) wrapped up (Anthony) pretty good. But if there's no call, you have to play through it." On if the team let up anticipating a call. "Yeah, you can never stop playing. You have to play to the whistle. Early in the game they would've called that a foul. Felt like there were 100 free throws out there. But there was no whistle."

I don't disagree with Dirk. We're discussing two separate topics. You're discussing whether Wright f'd up; Martin and I were discussing whether the refs did. For reasons I do not understand, you seem to view these two possibilities as mutually exclusive.

I thought we were talking about what was the cause of the outcome of the game. Sorry if I misunderstood.

That was a stone cold shot by Big Baby...not easy at all. He has really proven himself in these playoffs. He could develop into a Zach Randolph type player.

Where in the hell has Andrew Bynum gone this postseason? i know he said his knee still isn't 100% but he's out there playing a team w/o Yao Ming & all he can manage to put up on the board is an 0 for 1 shooting effort with 2 rebounds in 12 minutes??? that's a pretty pathetic statline even for Jared Fishlips with a sore ankle.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

It's an oversimplification to talk about *the cause* of the outcome of the game. There are innumerable causes--one of which was Wright f'ing up; another was the refs f'ing up. Another was Dirk struggling in the 4th quarter. Another was Dirk playing outstanding basketball in the 1st three to even keep his team in the game. Now the 2nd one--the ref f'ing up--was apparently deemed a significant enough cause for the league to take the unusual step of formally apologizing.

Big Baby is a poor rebounder for a PF. He's too slow and he doesn't understand how to use his body. His team's 170 lb starting PG is a far better rebounder.

Haha @ him pushing that punk kid out the way. He didnt mean to do that, tho. Spoiled brat was in the way.

His reaction was great, because he was showing unbridled joy and enthusiasm rather than hip hop bravado of just bumping one's chest and barking at the crowd.
