the team is beating teams they should be beating. they are playing well on their home court. both these things are what you need to be a playoff team.

the issue, however, is will they win the division? this must be the long term objective. right now they are one whole game in from of the nets and a whopping 3.5 games ahead of philly.

furthermore, are they going to gain the second seed in the east? anything less than that spells trouble. right now they are second but then again 3.5 games separate 2nd seed from 8th seed.

this is the genuine big picture.

they have a chance but it's too early to tell if they have a good chance.

1)kidd is vitally important to our team, and felton is just not adequate without a player like kidd to help. so we need kidd out there if we are to have a good chance.
2)i am hoping that stoudemire comes off the bench and works with prigoni. that will help the team's chances.
3)the return of shumpert is a big question mark. first is he as good as he was in terms of lateral quickness. more important, he likely displaces kidd which becomes a major problem. it's about fit. i think we may be better off with shumpert coming off the bench if kidd is able to play.

Rashard? He flopped a lot last year? Well either the way, the rules dont actually stop the refs from calling flops in game. And I hate to say it but I dont have too much faith in Woody right now. He has shown a few times that when things get tough, he'll ride a few players into the ground no matter how bad they're doing. Its still a long season though and I hope he proves me wrong.
