Javy (33), Granderson (29), Nick Johnson (31) & Randy Winn (35) made us younger just how exactly?

cash has his eyes set on this winter for more long term solutions.

tms, i understand not wanting to deal austin jackson, but really what's the big deal? granderson is a good baseball player and when he was hurt gardener filled in admirably in CF and is doing a fine job in LF. who knows what austin would have done here, but it's not like we're struggling. when your the yankees trading a guy like austin jackson just doesn't mean a whole lot. it sounds vicious but it's the truth.

the kid looks well on his way toward an Allstar type career, how doesn't it mean a whole lot? if we'd traded Derek Jeter his rookie season it wouldn't have meant a whole lot? i have no idea what you're talking about with that one... kid looks like a very talented young player with a nice bat & plays Gold Glove type defense in a premium position... that might not mean much to you but it means something to me.

& again, we wasted prospects & a big salary on Javy, how did we not give up anything for him? that's just glossing over a mistake to make reason of it in my view... we spent a ton of money on bringing in Javy, Nick Johnson & Randy Winn as stopgaps this year that could have been much better used on re-signing Johnny Damon or even Hideki Matsui... reason it away all you want but it doesn't make this offseason's acquisitions look any better.

Javy in June: 14 IP, 15 K, 5 H, 5 BB, 3 ER. 2 starts, 2 wins.

yeah, until he shows me he can win some big games for us, i've made up my mind... you talk as if this is his first go around here... dude is 5-5 with a ERA in the upper 5's... his career record in postseason play is pitiful... his career #'s vs AL hitting is below average... i'll wait til he shows me something to get excited about before i get excited.

tex is lucky equity is built up from the world series or he would've been roasted already.

vazquez has actually been our 3rd best SP in the last month. yesterday was a big game that he sparkled in as well - we had to take that game to avoid the sweep and he came out and pitched great.

tex is really struggling right now. 5k's yesterday is pretty pathetic. I'm not going to be hard on him though, we all know what the guy is capable of, he just needs to get in some extra work and clear his head. it's pretty obvious the crazy shift is really playing with his head though.

I won't kill Tex over this just yet either, because his defense has still been fantastic...but his struggles are coming at key points in the game. At what point do you drop him in the line up?

so let me get this straight... we should be dogging Teixeira out right now even after he played an integral role in us winning a championship last year & has been in the running for the MVP pretty much every year he's been in the majors, but i should be more patient with Javier Vazquez who hasn't proven a thing in his entire career other than the fact that he could strike guys out in a weak hitting NL & implode in playoff games?

you win a world series, there is built up equity. going nuts over what tex is doing right now is basically not looking at the big picture and is a mindset adopted by many 96'ers (or yankee fans that grew up in the mid 90's and were spoiled by all those championships). there was a period from 82-91 where the yankees were not a good team, a bad franchise, and had alot of drama courtesy of steinbrenner. tex playing bad now is passable since we are still winning.
